Shaving perfection

Just had my first true BBS. Been shaving with DE safety razors since Christmas.
My equipment for this shave was :
taylor of bond street shaving brush (badger)
Edwin Jagger razor
Gillette 7oclock yellow (second shave)
Erasmic soap mixed with a little edwin jagger cream.
I did a 4 pass shave with a polish.
Finished with a cold rinse, rub over with my alum block, splash of Issy Miyake sport AS and a good dolop of aftershave balm.

I have noticed that my face drinks in the balm, maybe 2 or 3 applications.
I also have a 1962 Gillette slim adjustable, but just cant seem to shave as well as the jagger with it.

Been thinking of getting a slant bar and a shavette to round off my little collection.
Would love to try a straight, but I think the shavette would be a good introduction to that type of shaving.
Will probably give it another 6 months or so with the DEbefore trying a straight.
And OMG, they where not kidding when they said about R.A.D.
6 weeks on and I have 3 razors, 2 brushes, many blades ( 7oclock fav so far)3 soaps, 4 creams, 3 bowls lots of new aftershaves and balms.

EDIT..... Just had my 3rd shave off the gillette 7 oclock, even better if that was possible, used a new shaving soap http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pamper-Ca...athBeauty_BathShowCons_RL&hash=item4ac15aeebe.
I love the anticipation, I even got up a little earlier than usual after a late shift, just to get my shave :)

Congrats on the shave!

My folks bought me the Leisure's Guide to Gourmet Shaving for Christmas and FWIW, the author suggests that a slant razor be the second razor that someone new to DE shaving use.

You own some very nice stuff! Edwin Jagger razors are very well respected.

BTW, when I use my alum bar, I rinse with cold water, apply my alum bar, and rinse my face again after a few minutes, then I dry my face, then its time for my AS or AS balm.

Edwin Jagger makes some of the best razors you can buy. I just wish they would take the same design and make it in stainless steel. I would happily pay top dollar for it.

The slant bar is my favorite safety razor by far. You can get a Merkur 37C (3" handle) or 39C (4" handle).

If you get a shavette I'd get a Parker, which you can get at Razor Blades And More for about $20. I like that one much better than the Dovo, and the Feather is much more expensive.
