Shaving at Scout Camp

Hi guys,
I just spent last week as a dad at scout camp. Not a bad week other than the monsoon that hit us Tuesday into Wednesday after which it just got more humid. Enough of that. I actually managed to get a couple of DFS just using the cold water available at the campsight. Of course a good shave cream and fresh blades helped. I was led to believe that hot water was a neccessity but that is not the case for me. I even managed to make do without a mirror!
I did learn to forego after shave as it seems skeeters also like the smell!! So yes you can get a good shave without all of our modern conviences. (A couple of the dads went all week w/ohaving but they are light beard types. If I did that I would look like a member of ZZ Top!)

Good deal on making it work. I'm an avid camper and if your open to suggestions I have a couple. I'm sure your accustomed to banking the fire from the night before for the next days breakfast. I have an old tin kettle I got at a garage sale for $1 that I fill and set on the coals as soon as I get up as well as one for the coffee. When it's hot I fill a large enameled steel bowl and set my brush to soak. Then I make the coffee. The brush has had time to soak, I have hot water for my brush and razor, I get some coffee with my shave, and all is right with the world.

I almost forgot I have a small polished metal mirror that I keep in my camp kit as well.

I went camping a couple of months ago and just used a BIC with no water and it worked fine; no pain, no burn and no BBS but presentable.
