Shave Ready razors in Australia

Hi,
I am currently a DE shaver but have been looking into straight shaving recently. I was wondering if you could give me some vendors who supply shave ready straight razors with decent international postage rates to Austrlalia

I have looked at http://www.dovorazors.com who seem ok considering shipping is already factored into their prices.

Also http://www.straightrazordesigns.com however their postage is extremely excessive!

http://www.vintagebladesllc.com as far as i can tell only offer postage to the US.

I know about vintage razors and Larry at thewhippeddog and stuff but would really prefer a new razor.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help :)

Welcome to B&B!

I think that a vintage razor is a *lot* cheaper than a new one but I can understand why you would prefer a new one.

Mensbiz sells some straights in Melbourne (http://www.mensbiz.com) but they won't be shave ready. You will need a honer to get them ready.

To get there, Oz is your man to do the work, he's close to Sydney (http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/index.php/Honemeister). He has one smooth edge and works very quickly. It might take a bit as I'm in the queue already to have a few straights sharpened...

The Shaver Shop also sells some but I wouldn't go there, you will probably have a better deal with Mensbiz.

I don't think there's any other places that would sell you a Dovo in Oz but you can always get a straight with disposable blades or maybe a different brand than Dovo. Look at the shaving supply list for Australia: http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/index.php/Australia_shaving_supplies

Do not forget to get a strop with your straight.

Finally, visit the Great Southern Land where most of Australia hang out!

Thanks for the reply and the warm welcome. I have found though that buying from overseas can prove to be a lot cheaper than buying locally in Australia since some of our prices can be quite high.

So with that being said, are there any other overseas vendors which supply shave-ready razors?

And how much will a hone set you back with that guy in Sydney?

depends on the condition of the razor (I gave him some really evil wedges that cost more), but I think it would be about $30. Os is a great guy though, and gives a killer edge.

ps, welcome aboard!

The Honemeister list above will probably give you anyone that can hone a straight willing to offer the service professionally.

You can always buy a straight, have it ship directly to the honemeister and when ready, it will sent to you.

Ruprazor sells a Gold Dollar shave ready + practice strop for $60 I think.

Otherwise, if you want vintage, I might have something in my lot that I can sell you when it comes back from Oz. You will only need a strop.
