Shave cream recommendations that are more "natural"

I've poked around a few of the shave cream ingredient lists and there's a lot of things in them that I'd rather not put on my face even though they produce an excellent shave.

What are some shave creams that are less "chemically"? I'm not talking about the aerosol canned cream. I know those are chemical dumping grounds. I mean more like how the ingredient list on most artisan shave soaps is just various fats, hydroxide, water, clay?

I've only used shave soap so far, but would like to venture into the cream world too.

Try Biotique ;

BIOTIQUE:

Not to change the subject, but if you are concerned about the ingredient list for shaving creams, switch to soaps. Many of the "offending" ingredients in creams are there to combat the effects of water in the cream long term (i.e. preservatives and emulsifiers). Soaps have a much lower amount of water in them and so require less of those ingredients or none at all.

Thank y'all for the recommendations. I actually have a bottle of unscented KMF that I used back when I was a cartridge user but when I switched to DE I started using shave soaps.

For simplicity, I'll add some EJ cream to my next WCS order, although the Biotique looks really nice but I don't see it on WCS.

This is a great point.

I believe QCS creams have essential oils and smell great to me--not at all synthetic or like perfume. They are "croaps" and have less water in the final product as well.

Synergy shave soaps are 100% vegan. I am not sure if you can get much more natural than that! Incredible latherability and all around amazing scents. I highly recommend!!

Check out the new Speick Active bowl soap or cream. They're pretty good for a vegan soap.

The soaps at How To Grow A Mustache do seem to be pretty natural--and they get very good reviews from what I have seen. But I'm not sure a product being "vegan" makes it "all natural", nor would a non-vegan all-natural product be any less natural than it's vegan counterpart.

Correct. A product can be called vegan and still contain petroleum byproducts, etc.

I'm throwing in another vote for regular Speick or Speick Active. They're great creams and Speick prides themselves on being all natural.

I am reading Chandler Burr's The Perfect Scent. Not sure "natural scent" is an advantage. An artificial scent is often a single molecule. To get the same thing with a natural ingredient, you may be involving hundreds of molecules. So, if allergy is a problem, the artificial is the way to go. Another point, is the source for the best patchouli, in Madagascar, I think, is pretty much out of the plant. The best sandalwood, is from India...where, according to Burr, there are no longer any sandalwood trees. Just say natural, organic, vegan are terms that do not absolutely guarantee the right thing.

I used KMF Key Lime for the first time today. I have been face lathering with some canned stuff, and just practicing good technique. So today I did my first three pass shave, used a geo bowl(new) and an Elite brush (new) and kiss my face key lime with my merkur 33c with a dorco blade. I feel like a new friggin' man! I topped it all of with some Captians choice Bay Rum. I think I am ready to move on to a sharper blade, even though my face is the smoothest it's ever been! can't believe what I've been missin'
