Semogue 1800 loosing bristles

Hello, I hope you are having a nice week,

I bought a Semogue 1800 about a month ago but never used it until last week.

My concern is that every time I shave I seem to find bristles from it swimming in my bowl. It's my first brush, so I don't know if this is normal behaviour of a new brush. :confused1 Or maybe I'm doing something wrong.

It's normal to lose some hairs the first few times you use a brush. My Semogue 830 shed hairs for about the first 10 lathers and then never again.

Hello,
I use Semogue brushes and, so far, only 620 did not loose any hair at all. The others (1305, 830 and SOC) lost two, three bristles, in total. Boar brushes are not as dense as badger brushes so I would also be concerned if they loose more than ten.
I would also like to mention that I always let a brand new brush soak for a bit longer (20min) in warm water, first time I use it. I also wash it with regular shampoo and go gentle palm lathering for a week before I use it for shaving. I always soak brushes for at least two, three minutes before using them on regular basis. I also soak the brushes with wood handle 3/4 of the knot, never fully immerse the knot.
If you have used this brush four, five times and it lost two, three bristles every shave, I would not be worried. But if it continues this trend I would keep the bristles and document this problem.
You did not mention how many shaves and how many bristles. You also did not mention if the bristles were full length or trimmings.
This is my (limited) experience with boar brushes and I hope others will chime in.
Enjoy your Semogue.

I've a SOC which I'm breaking in. It has lost about 7 or 8 hairs after about 12 shaves or so. Losing 1 per instance.
I'm keeping an eye on it as I'm not expecting much more loss.
I've an 1800 and an 830 and saw very little loss from either of these; maybe a few or so early on, but nothing since.

Thanks for the advices, I've shaved about 5 times with it and every time I've found around 2 bristles floating around, I'm not sure if they are full length or trimmings. Today is shaving day, so if it happens again I'll document it.

I saw the Semogue 1800 title and had to participate. I got my first Semogue (1800) a little over a month ago and after a good cleaning it went right into service. I think I lost maybe 1-2 hairs for the first 4-5 uses which is normal and acceptable. After that, no more lost hairs. The brush just keeps getting softer and blooming and is now my favorite brush. Give it time and it will prove itself. Love my Semogue!

It seems like my Semogue boar brushes (the only boars I have experience with) have lost less hairs than any of my other brushes. I put it down to my being a bit rougher on a brush than I should be and boar being possibly stronger.
