I've noticed in the past maybe year or so, that Simpson don't seem to have very many Platinum fibre brushes for sale on their website. I was on about a month ago and I think they only had three.. then I went on their site tonight and they have zero platinum fibre brushes listed.
As far back as late last year I saw they seemed to have less platinum offerings and around Christmas they had a sale with a lot of platinum fibre brushes at big discounts which looked almost as if they were clearing their older brushes out and in turn I bought two. An M7 and a Duke 3 both with platinums.
There's not even a platinum fibre section anymore. Used to be in the dropdown menu for brushes you could choose the numerous badger variants then there was a sovereign section and a platinum section if I remember correctly. Now they just have the sovereign section.
It looks like all the new synthetics they've been putting out are with sovereign fibres. This is quite interesting because initially, the platinum fibres were the more expensive of the two synthetic fibres they offered and to my knowledge were generally seen as the more luxurious of the two.
I was just wondering.. does anyone know what's the story with it? I keep wondering have they phased out the platinum offerings and just using sovereign now as I haven't seen any new listings with platinum fibres in quite some time.. the site used to be full of brushes with platinum fibres, but not any more.
