What's new

Scored a vintage U.S. made goatskin flight jacket at the thrift store yesterday!

Avirex A-2 in perfect condition. It really looks like it was never used. It's a ruddy sort of maroon/burgundy/oxblood color. I love it! I paid $10 for it!

Anyone else have one, or have any info on this one? I don't have a pic, unfortunately, but you can see what they look like with a google search of "Avirex A-2 goatskin flight jacket."

What a wonderful score! Regular leather, not fleece, collar, right?

How could any place selling used clothing price a jacket like this at $10. An iconic item of clothing. I used to have a leather jacket of similar design and vintage, but not of this pedigree. Mine eventually kind of dried up and fell apart, but it, shall we say, had hundreds of thousands on miles on it, when it did! I would have take better care of it, if it were the real thing, too.

I sport the Cooper version. Great staple. Great price.

I'll try to get pics up soon, yeah. And yeah, Knize, it's all leather including the collar. The lining is cotton, and it has the elasticized cuffs and waistband.

I love wearing it out because it's gets so many looks based on the color alone. It totally stands out in the sea of blacks, grays, and browns everyone else is wearing here in St. Louis.
