Schick Injector Blades Dull?

I have a late model injector razor - a type "L1". I bought some new Schick brand blades on Amazon, the made-in-China production blades.

I'm using the first blade and it's much more dull than I expected. I've read these are very sharp and nearly as good as using a straight razor. Is this particular blade just an anomaly? I've used it 2-3 times and each time, it's not shaved as well as a DE blade. It also didn't shave as close as a DE.

Any thoughts? Is this usual?

Thanks.

Another thing to watch for is loading. Make sure that the blade edge isn't rubbing on the blade stops as it's sliding in. That can happen, and results in an unpleasant shave.

I had the exact same experience. A distinct tugging. Changed blades, checked the loading and used every angle on the protractor to shave. No joy. Gave up on the injector after two or three miserable shaves. Now I wonder. Could it be the blades

It usually only happens when you try to inject the blade into an empty frame, at least that's been my experience. Just keep an eye on the blade as it's going in to make sure it's away from the stops.

Thanks, I have only loaded my e1 once as I just have 3 shaves in. Will the blade move to the stops when the key is removed?

Thus far, I've only used NOS injector blades. The Personna 74 is my favorite, followed by Schick Plus Platinum. I did buy some new Personna injector blades (made in USA) but have not tried them yet.

I have had no problems with any NOS blades. Check them out and you will truly be "vintage shaving."

I've had blades so dull right out of the injector that it was like not having anything in it at all. Just try the next one. Not just the Chinese Schick blades - which I do like - but also the Pella blades. Same maker?

No, the blades sold by Pella are made by ASR/Personna.

Those are the easiest to load, it can be done manually, so that eliminates any chance of boogering up the edge.

I just reloaded it (without opening). It's the first time I loaded it with a used blade still in there and there was a good clearance to the stops which disappeared after removing the key.
