Scam or Honest Mistake? eBay Seller Withholds Fat Boy

I recently picked up a lot from fleaBay: two super speeds, an old type, and a Fat Boy. I was eagerly awaiting the delivery as the FB looked to be in good shape and I got a great deal thanks to the seller's abysmal listing skills.

Today I open the box and see: two super speeds, an old type... and another super speed.

The seller is not a razor spe......t - she deals in vintage stuff of all kinds. Only has a hundred or so feedback.

I'm West Coast, she's East Coast, so I don't expect a reply to my message tonight.

But I really wonder what's going on here. Did she make an honest mistake packing this shipment?

Or was the Fat Boy withheld on purpose, maybe hoping I wouldn't notice and she can list it again?

That seems a little far out, but it being that razor that didn't make it here seriously bugs me.

With the Bay's quick punishment of sellers these days, you can't afford a screwup like this. A one-star negative feedback from me would crush her.

I'll withhold a link for now, give her a chance to make this right. I'm only really posting this because only you gents could feel my pain... :frown:

Hm... it would seem the filter knocks out the spelling of a popular male enhancement drug that also comprises a word meaning "one who specializes".

Strange that you mention this because a Fatboy arrived at my door unannounced and unexpected today. :blushing:

I guess it fell out of the box in TN on the way to the West Coast!

Seriously, I hope you get the razor soon!

sounds like your giving her the chance to make it right...I have seen mistakes...hope you get it worked out...I do feel your pain

Had a similar thing a while back with a lot that contained a Red Tip, when they arrived I unloaded everything that was in the box and examined all of the pieces.
It was a week or so later when I was clearing old listings that I noted that I didn't get the Red Tip, but another regular Superspeed.
People make mistakes. It could happen.
But my pessimistic outlook on most (not all) E-bay sellers always has me thinking the worst.
Hope this works out well for you in the end and you don't have to call in "The Specia1ist"

Could be either, but I'd like to think it was an honest mistake. Hopefully she gets back to you tonight or tomorrow, and squares everything up with you. Maybe she will let you keep the extra SS! Keep us posted!

yeah, don't jump to conclusions too quick, and I know that is easier said than done. With any luck you will get the fatboy free shipping and maybe even keep the extra SS as well. Seeing it was her mistake she would have to pay shipping back to her for the extra SS and it may not be worth the cost. Regardless, most reputable sellers on ebay will do whatever necessary to make things right.

I had a similar transaction on the bay. I won a large lot that clearly showed a fatboy in the first of three images. I wrote the seller and they responded that the fatboy was shown by mistake and was not included in the lot because it was broken. I wrote back saying that I specifically bid in order to win the fatboy. The seller did right and the fatboy was included when I received the lot. It didn't appear broken to me and I have been using it for months with no issues.

I bought a Sheraton off the bay one time and the seller sent me a Milady in case which was totally odd to me. He then proceeded to send me a email asking if I received my razor since he has complaints of others not receiving their items. I told him that he shipped something to me that wasnt mine so he paid me to ship that razor to the correct place and he told me that mine was lost  I then found the razor that I bought relisted with better pictures on the bay. He told me it was a different razor but he would send it to me anyways. After a huge arguement he finally realized that he was an idiot and that it was the exact razor I bought 1 week ago and that he relisted it not realizing that it was already sold.....

After that I started to buy less from the bay. Everyone is human and makes mistakes but hopefully your razor will turn up or atleast the person will send another FB of equal value.

I recently bought a 9 razor stash - was described that way - but the picture showed 10 razors....sent an email and the seller said yes, it was 10, and that's what he sent:thumbup:

I have the feeling that when it comes to razors, most eBay sellers are totally clueless so they under describe and under glorify the items, yielding in a low winning bid.

And you have those that over-glorify their razors thinking they will become the next Bill Gates by selling a dozen of antiquated commodity items.

And they realize by now that the term "Fat Boy" yields great profits...

Hope you get this settled, koso, keep us posted.

I won a New open comb once, and the guy sent me a fat handled Tech. When I contacted him he said it was my responsibility to pay for return shipping. Then he gave me negative feedback after I gave him negative feedback. Ebay got rid of his feedback for me.

Even experienced sellers make mistakes. I bought a razor from a B&B member and received it along with a second box and razor. The second box and razor named another B&B member as the recipient but then listed my address. I fortunately knew the other B&B member and forwarded his razor to him. Smiles all around.

Good luck getting your situation worked out.

Funny you should mention that Pioneer, I even saw a Schick injector (E style) being described as a "Fat Boy" in the title! then the seller goes on in little characters how he noticed that the shaver was a bit fat when he bought it and he named it "Fat Boy".

I have had a response from the seller. She says she has a few razors around and did in fact get mixed up in the packing.

The end result turned out to be ibrewbeer's quote below!

With any luck you will get the fatboy free shipping and maybe even keep the extra SS as well.

She will get five-star feedback when this wraps up. Thanks for reading, guys.

Now to give her my regular email, have her send a pic of her 'other razors'... see if she would like to make a deal for some choice ones outside the fleaBay arena... *cue evil laugh and twirling long villainous mustache*

Congrats! :)

Like I mentioned earlier, to most of these folks, the FatBoy is just another 5$ antique razor, and I believe that most of these mistakes are not intentional.

Hi

Sorry to sort of highjack this thread but is it that the word speciality is continually obsured on this site? Sorry for the randomness.

because it contains the word "c i a l i s" (the ED drug) which is mostly used by spammers.

IMHO, they should add this particular word (s p e c i a l i s t) to the exception list.
