What's new

Say fellers, any brushes comparable to shavemac d01 2 band for strong backbone?

Looking for brushes with backbone equal or greater than Shavemac D01 2 band in badger only. Thought I'd check with you guys B4 I bought another brush. So far, Shavemac D01 2 band is the best brush I have used because it has the strongest backbone. Might there be any other contenders? I have been considering the Rooney 2XL-but I'm not sure. What do you think?
I put it to the experts.....Please help me fellers.
Thanks in advance,
Vic

I have a D01 two band as well as a Rooney Heritage Stubby 3xl. The Stubby is not even close as far as backbone. No other brush I own is close to the d01.

Can I assume you're not interested in a wire brush? Seriously, one of the nice things about Shavemac is that with "Experts Select" you can specify the loft, so you can get close to the backbone of the 2-band by ordering a 3-band with a very short loft (a loft/knot ratio <1.8). I haven't found other brushes with that level of backbone that use hair of such high quality...that's a big trade-off.

my do1 two band has easily the most backbone of my brushes given the density, with soft tips. the hairs seem to be extra thick. i got a flat top knot in a custom rudy vey handle, this brush is truly phenomenal. i couldn't handle a short lofted one with a hybrid knot.

Mine is a 24mm bulb with a 46mm loft. It took some time but now I love it and I am not a fan of bulb knots. It has backbone to burn but not a hint of scritch. I use it with shave sticks and it works great after some break in time.
