Samples?

I have never been one for cologne but have decided(through swmbo persuasion) that we should find something that I(she) likes.
What is the best way to get started with testing?
Are there sites that sell a wide variety of samples or ...???
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert

I ordered a Trumper's sample pack, came with 5 colognes, some creams, skin foods... very nice and got me my first taste thorough taste of some nice scents.

Looks like they changed it up since, no skin foods, but more creams and scents.

Best way to get started with sampling is to figure out, insofar as possible, what kind/family of fragrances you are seeking or wish to explore. Basenotes is a nice place to get ideas, and has a feature where you can put in the notes you are interested in and it will provide some names. Second step is to find some samples. Department stores and fragrance shops (L'Occitane for one) are a beginning - its free. After that you are into buying samples. While some manufacturers may provide free samples, most do not. For samples, ThePerfumedCourt, Lucky Scent, and Aedes is good for women and men. For men, Trumper's has a sample offering, Penhaligon has had but doesn't seem to now, and I did get some T&H somehow. It is a fun exploration! Enjoy, and use the computer to search a lot!

This! Do a search for 'decants' on the board, there are a half dozen places who sell good 'beginners sample packs' that will help you narrow down your interests.

Resurrecting this in case anyone might be looking for samples. Just received some I ordered from Mudassir at Crystal Flacon/Basenotes. Good price, fast delivery, excellent service!

Also, don't hesitate to write directly to companies and ask them for samples. Just about all of them will respond to your requests.

Czech & Speake (London, UK), sells ), Cologne Samplers (No 88, Cuba, Neroli, Oxford & Cambridge, Cirtus Paridisi, Frankincense & Myrrh, Rose, Dark Rose and Mimosa), fragrances which I understand are pretty good (about $10 US w/ shipping).
