Rooney brush in London?

Hi,

In a couple of weeks I will visit London. Since I'm looking for a new brush I did some research where to buy a new Rooney brush.
However I did not find any shop to have these brushes in stock, only TOBS has their own rebranded Rooney brush.

Can anyone help me where to buy a Rooney brush in London?

Thx!

I will defer to those who are much more knowledgeable than I, but have seen a number of posts from those in the U.K. who way that they cannot find Rooney brushes per se in U.K. shops. Seems like perhaps other U.K. vendors may sell rebranded Rooneys under their own house names. Trumpers? Good luck and have a fun trip.

Can confirm Trumpers on Jermyn Street have rebranded Rooney Heritages in stock. You'll find that the man there wants to sell you Simpsons instead, as he rates them more highly.

Interestingly, he was unable to state where in England Rooney's operations are actually based! He doesn't rate their robustness as a company.

Huh? Is Rooney going out of business?

Course not, that's just a vendors opinion of the company - a vendor who prefers people buy his Simpsons.

I don't know if T&H have a retail store in London, but they do sell rebranded Rooney's on their UK site. A rebadged Rooney is still a Rooney.

T&H's original shop is on St James's Street which is at the end of Jermyn Strret. The shop is about 500 metres? down the street on the right hand side (from Piccadilly). Also the original D.R.Harris shop is on the same street about 50metres down on the left hand side.

On Jermyn Street you have G.F.T and T.O.B.S. Also Floris and Czech & Speake.

Needless to say my wife has banned me from the near vicinity of these streets!!!!

I've also wondered about Rooney, not that I'm planning a trip to the UK in the near future, more so out of curiosity. I've haven't been able to find anything about Rooney online, not a company website or really any trace other than a short Wikipedia listing and links to the few online vendors that carry them (yes, apparently I have too much time on my hands).

One things for sure, Jermyn St. in London sounds like the wet shaving Mecca

Have a look at my thread the truefitt and hill experiance. The stuff in the window behind me may just give you a clue

Thx for your reactions. I did take a look on the T&H website, on the American you can see the rebranded 1/1 and 3/1. On their UK website they only show the 3/2 and name it Wellington medium????
I wil certainly take a look at Trumpers for the Heritages.

The wellington medium is a 1/2. That is what I have.

I would like to buy my husband a Rooney brush.

But are these brushes still being made by R A Rooney in the old traditional way as claimed on a very few web sites?

It seems like Mr Sabini has bought R A Rooney but has closed down the London factory. So the Rooney brand name is being used. But where, by whom and how are the brushes now made? Until something official is published I'm not buying a Rooney brush.

This is the Rooney website:

It's been like this for weeks. So what's happening?

If by old and traditional, you mean handmade, then yes.

I've no idea what the story is with their website, AFAIK they've never even had one - they're probably that old and traditional.

Why don't you call them?
