Revisor

Anyone else have any Revisor experience?

I picked up a big Revisor 8/8 here a week or so ago. Nice looking blade. I planned to rescale it but since the holidays are here my time's a little short and I figured I'd put an edge on it to see how it shaves. Wow! I don't remember ever needing to use a DMT-325 to set a bevel. It was about 45 min just on the 325 to get an end to end bevel and remove the frown. It's a pretty uneven grind but now there's a bevel. I polished it up and stropped a little and the edge seems to be pretty nice, tomorrow will tell I guess. Hard steel, felt like I was honing my Filly again.

many people are interested and this info would draw the manufacturer attention I am sure.

I have an original and its a great shaver. I know nothing about the new ones however I don't think I've ever seen a "new issue" of any vintage product that was even close in quality to the original.

After all that it's a pretty good shaver. Takes a beautiful edge where I got it right. I need a little more work on the bevel and it should be excellent. Most of the experiences I see have been good. Mines just a little of a misfit and does not seem to be a good example of these blades. Lucky me!

Also be aware that on big full hollow blades, you have to be careful not to exert any pressure on the blade when honing, as that can cause the blade to deflect, which raises the very cutting edge up off of the hone, making trying to hone it an exercise in futility.

Nice looking razor!
