Renleigh Shaving Soap

I've come across this soap (in a neat bowl that apparently doubles as an ash-tray) and was wondering if anyone had some information about it. In other words, where it was manufactured, is it tallow, does it perform, etc.? My Google-fu is failing me!

There was one on eBay that ended yesterday, no one bid. Looked interesting.

Haha! No, very serious! Strange, no? Well, I'll let you know how it goes, as I fully intend to try this soap out!

I won this off ebay and it arrived today:

It also does indeed double as an ashtray as evidence by the indentations on the lid and according to the insert. Seller claimed it is from the '40s. I'll be putting this to use soon.

I also have one of these and have yet to lather it. If someone does end up making some lather then pics would be much appreciated.

Interesting you post this. I couldn't stand this and binned it. Don't be mad, I think it was rancid or something! I tried grating it up, mushed it back into the bowl, then poked it full of little holes and doused it with bay rum. I could not for the life of me get rid of the funk. I'm sure it wasn't this bad in the 40's
