What's new

Remember these?

I saw this in a novelty store similar to the five and dime stores of my childhood in Brooklyn. I bought 2 doz and gave them to all of my nieces and nephews and little cousins. They dropped their nintendo's and PSP's for 5 minutes and enjoyed it..... Ah The good ol' days. What did you play with it when you were 8?

Yes, I must get one for me, I mean grandson. A water rocket, too

I loved the days when toys were basically weapons.

I had many a bruised forearm from the clackers going awry.

Have no idea what that is but it reminds of something nasty :glare:

I remember the fun snaps..visiting my grandparents in Brooklyn every year while on summer break from school..I used to throw em on the side walk and at cars..lol..fire dept or cops would get annoyed and tell me and my friends to stop or else!..:eek2:

SSP cars (with the zip thing that spun one central weighted wheel), I had a couple 'cap bomb' things like you picture, also water rockets (before guys started making them out of 2 L bottles, which I've also done), squirt guns, my trusty Schwinn Sting Ray. We didn't watch TV when we were kids-------we actually did things!

My aunt threw away the Lawn darts after we pinned the neighbors dog to the ground. It was a nasty accident and the poor dog had to be put down. It ran loose and ran into where we were playing.

We moded the Clappers so we could use them like chucks. They hurt if you got hit in the head with one. Oh the 1970's how did we all live to be this old.

Yes, I remember those. When I was eight, I use to play scully using bottle caps filled with melt Crayola crayon wax. I have not seen any kids in Brooklyn playing that game in years. For those of you outside of NYC, there's a good description of the game here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skully_(game). We used to play it for hours on end.
