What's new

Refurb 2nd 64gb ipad or new 3rd gen 16gb

This will be my first Apple purchases if it goes. It will be used in a college environment for note taking with a bluetooth keybord dock. I think as long as Pages is not asked to much of as far as presentation go we will be alright, but I do not have a clue other than to know to save as pdf and not trust pages to transfer to a pc if you have add a lot of stuff other than text.

I would get the new one. With the now ios6 coming out, you would be left behind if you got the 2 gen. Not to mention the retina screen. Memory is a factor tho, so it depends on what you need too. With the cloud you might be able to get away with 16gb, since WiFi should be all over the campus

LOL I think i answered my own question. Only Siri and Cellular face time require the New Ipad is seems.

Think about buying Noteshelf (my favorite app for school) and a stylus. Typing in class is annoying and hand writing stuff is ALOT easier. Plus you can change colors and highlight on the fly. I love Noteshelf but bought Noteability because of the voice note support. Great apps. I have a 16GB and its no issue at all. When I raninto a problem was when I started putting movies onto my iPad lol.
This is a awesome example of Noteshelf. You can see I take notes my own way :)

Get the 3. Or new iPad or whatever we are meant to call it. Unless you're putting a tonne of songs or videos on it 16gb should be fine. For everything else there's the cloud. Enjoy.

Just want to let everyone know I am still here taking all this in.

I agree, with the cloud seems like the new one is the way to go . I am old school and cannot get away from a file in my hand, but then you will forget and leave your usb at Kinko's or your laptop will crash or get stolen. Anyway I will get my Portege back.

The iPad 3 has a duo core processor and the retina display. I have a 64gb iPad 2, that I like a lot, and don't see the need to upgrade, but if I were buying for the first time. I would go with the 3 in the 32 gb model. Apple has been releasing features for the newest hardware but holding back for older. Siri, turn by turn navigation on ios 6... But the device should last you for years. My iPhone 4 and iPad 2 both still work great..

iCloud really works well. I signed up for it the day it came out and it's nice to have all my contacts, calendars, and all available on my iPad, iPod Touch, and Macbook. I still make a manual backup of all my iOS devices to my macbook at least once a month just for posterity but backup daily to iCloud.

I would go with the newest because of the IOS6 update. Also, if you see one in person, the display is magic. I had the first version and the iPad 3 is a huge improvement.

I feel like Meth is a whole new product altogether, it is harder on the brain and seems to have more long term effects. Maybe heroin or coke is a better substitute for crack.

Also, if you believe in Giffen goods, you may be convinced that text books fall into that category. So, while text book prices and class enrollment may hypothetically be complementary, there may be little decrease in demand after text book prices increase (because students need them either way). There may however be an inverse relationship between text book prices and the amount of beer sold on campus:scared:

Wait, what were we talking about again? I got distracted by the really colourful and clear notes....

I should get this in as well. i am planning on getting the Zaggfolio keyboard. Sound good?

I don't have a zagg keyboard, but I do have the zagg invis shield. And zagg is a fantastic company. I did not get a keyboard, I use the apple flip cover and the on screen keyboard. I don't do a whole lot of typing tho.

I just did a touchdown dance with my 2nd Gen and broke it :cursing: So I am debating the same thing. I am pretty sure I will get the new one with OS6 coming out and the retina display. Seems like it is probably worth it and I never needed more than 16GB storage on my old one anyway.

Get the new one. From all the reviews I have read, they all say the the last ones screen looks downright pixelated compared to the latest one. I don't even like Apple as I am an Android fan. But the one thing Android has not yet come close to is the new Retina displays. I think it would be worth it for the screen. Especially if you are going to view photos on it or even watch a few videos. Hell, even web browsing. It is always good to have an excellent screen.

My vote is for the new one because of the retina display. I got one about a month ago and love it. Note taking apps are awesome. Dropbox, and Evernote apps are essential. If you get one buy the Tap Typing app. It greatly improves typing speed in less than a week.
