Hi,
As some of you are aware, I got a Red Tip off of Ebay last week. It was really dirty and gunky when I first unwrapped it. Unfortunately I did not take any pics before I did the quick soapy hot water soak and cleaning with the tooth brush. When the soapy water and tooth brush cleaned it off somewhat and made it a lot easier to twist open the blade bay, I realized that I needed something stronger than soapy water. I went and found a old thread on this forum about cleaning the metal on the razor which extolled the cleaning and polishing prowess of the Metalwax tri-pack. I ordered that product and ordered Hydrocide which the thread author also extolled. Both the Metalwax and hyrdocide arrived yesterday. So I quickly set to cleaning the Red Tip. The first 3 pictures are of the Red Tip before I cleaned it. I used my 55' Super Speed to show just how dirty the Red Tip still was.

First I used a toothbrush and some Metalwax metal cleanser. Woah! A whole lotta crud was flaking off left and right and the bristles of the toothbrush were quickly stained a dark grey/black color. Geez exceedingly dirty the damned thing was. I realize now that I should have taken some pictures then but I was on a roll and wanted to get the thing cleaned. The next few pics are of it after it was cleaned and polished and I used the Super Speed as a comparison reference.
