Razor blade dispenser

I'm sure I can't be the first person in history to ponder this idea, but I haven't been able to find anything on the web. I'd like a dispenser where I can put all of my loose bulk blades. I got 100 Israeli Personnas in 5-blade cardboard packs, but there really isn't anything out there where I could just load my blades into and they pop out like a PEZ dispenser. There are several single-edge razor blade dispensers, but these look to be sold with the blades, and don't look to be refillable.

Is there something that I'm just not finding out there? It wouldn't be difficult to make something like this, but it seems like something that should already exist.

I don't have a dispenser, but I put loose blades (in their wrapper of course) in an old Altoids container. Or you could probably refill a Feather container.

I have a few of the Wilkinson Sword 10-blade packs in the original plastic dispensers. But I keep the loose blades I have gotten through SWBE or samplers in a plastic bag with a silca package to keep the blades dry.

Perhaps searching your local Walmarts for a Wilkinson Sword ten-pack will score you the holder you are searching for?

I have a dollar-store plastic basket that's about the 1.2x the width of a blade (or 1x the width of a WalMart Wilkinson dispensor)... I keep all my blades, loose or still in boxes/tucks, in this sitting upright. The only packages that don't fit width-wise are the two-way dispenser packs ala ASR (Kroger/CVS/Dollar Store), Gillette Bleu Extra, and old Crystals.

That said, I do really like the idea of something purpose-built that can hold 100+ loose blades with a small slot and cut-out tab at the bottom to allow you to slide out one at a time.

I wonder if the single-edge dispenser might actually work for DE blades left in the paper, or if it uses the center-hole in an SE blade for alignment or dispensing. It might be worth a shot and it's only $13 (actually made by ASR, aka Personna)... amazon used to stock it for $11, but now the only place I can find it is:

Following up... I just noticed that the five-pack of Derby blades I received along with the Edwin Jagger DE89L came in a white plastic blade dispenser. So perhaps you can find one of those.

In fact, if you like, PM me... I would be happy to trade you either the Derby five pack with dispenser for five loose blades you have.

I'm looking for something in which I could put several hundred blades. I've got a few of the little plastic dispensers that came with some of my Feather/Aastra/etc. but I'm looking for a longer-term cool storage option. I might just end up making something out of Plexiglas or something. It would be that hard. I'm just shocked that there isn't already something out there ready-made. Maybe I'll apply for a patent. :euro:

I have been wondering about the same thing. Ideally, anyone with the resources of a High School metal shop could easily fabricate a little stainless steel or aluminum dispenser, with a kick plate and square spring for a feed. It wouldn't be difficult to fabricate, but the tools are the issue. I imagine that if a person had just 1 sq. ft. of stainless or aluminum that would be enough. Two caps, one tube, one kick plate and one spring and fabrication: jobs done. Make a few extra and sell them for $20 bucks each, shiny & bright! Heck, put a Badger decal on the outside and use them for a fund raiser.

A man could load his extra blades in a tube for storage, or load his blade rotation for the year in a tube and be done with it. A box of 100 Personna Med Preps are really small, so figure an auto loader tube for 100 blades would need to be twice that length (perhaps four inches) because of the springs holding reservoir space. It would be similar to a small bullet clip for a rifle, but more attractive in bright stainless - something you wouldn't mind having on your bathroom sink. Hmmm...

All multi blade (5 or 10) packs I store in these simple home depot boxes.

I have a few open packs from which I take the single blades. These "in use" packs I just keep in a 3x3" open plastic box in the cabinet next to my soaps.

I never thought about any individual blade dispenser. Do you want the entire dispenser filled with one blade brand or mix them up when filling and then just go by what the dispenser throws at you ? I like to choose whatever the mood strikes me to choose.

Happy search and let us know once you found what you're looking for.

I use a blade bank. Feather makes one that holds about 100 blades. Otherwise, the Feather dispenser has a "blade bank" in the back.
