What's new

Putting together a travel kit.

I work out at the gym every morning after dropping my son off at school. I have found that wet shaving at the gym can be a little problematic. I am trying to decide exactly what to put into my shaving kit and how to pack it.

I bought the Victorinox Cabinet shaving kit bag in black

Now I have to figure out how to load everything in there. I can easily fit a couple straight razors in one side pocket. I need it to stay a completely dry pocket for rust prevention.

I also built a "travel tube" for my brush. I bought a T-12 fluorescent light bulb protector and cut it down to size, using both end caps that came with the tube. I still have 3 1/2' of tubing left so if I figure out a new capping method I can make more "travel tubes." The caps that come with the tubes have holes for the bulb connectors to go through so it should let the brush breath. The 4' tubes are $3 at home depot.

What I don't know is how to transport my DE razors as I don't always use a straight. I don't want to just drop it in the bag because I don't want it beaten up and I'm afraid if I put it in one of the elastic bands in that side pocket the blade might get damaged or cut the bag. Is there some sort of travel "blade bank" that I can put the blade in dry and have it not get dinged or cut anything up?

I've been assembling a travel kit so I dont' have to waste time picking out things and worrying about what will travel well and what won't.
nice job on the travel case for the brush. I'm going to home depot tonight for unrelated business. I will check this out.
I made my brush case out of an oversize pill container. I drilled little holes in the top and bottom so that air would move through it and help it dry.
I'm still looking for a razor case. My dad uses his old braun electric case that zips up and has pockets for everything.
Others have used MP3 player cases.
I bring soaps that are 75% or more gone so that I can build lather right in the container. What i'm looking for is a travel brush stand so the brush will dry.

You could pick up a DE holster thing from any number of sites on here, usually leather. I think they start around $15 and go up from there.

Buy a Feather Portable from Pauldog or DrIdiot here on the board. $10, comes in a tiny case that will hold several single blades. The razor is a Tech clone but a bit more aggressive and well constructed.

One of the best parts of the brush holder I made is that not only do the holes keep the brush from getting wet/funky you can also remove either of the ends so you are never have to slide the brush in or out against the direction of the bristles. (And my son really likes to use the extra length of tubing as a light saber)
