Public Apology to Mantic

I have been quoted as suggesting Mantic used CGI to generate the bowl full of lather he does in his "how to lather" video. Well... today I officially apologize.

I live in Long Beach, CA. We have reasonably hard water. I've never had great success in generating lots of lather. I get good lather, but it takes forever and is a lot of work.

I am spending Christmas in Portland, OR. A town with soft water. All I can say is WOW. Everything lathers. Tabac, Porasso, Bigalow... everything! And, almost immediately. Gobs and gobs of rich, moist lather.

So... Mantic... if you read these posts... I'm sorry! Soft water rules!!

So how would you describe your final lather made with Long Beach's hard water? Is it like picture of the B&B LE brush on the Front page?

thanks.

I get similar consistency (from what can tell from the photos) but never the volume of lather. It's the "overflowing" nature that I never get at home.

I live in New Orleans and we have very hard water, so much so that whenever I buy a new faucet fixture I tear out that little water saver feature (which is just a piece of metal with a tiny hole to prevent a full flow of water). Otherwise, the faucet is blocked in months by minerals.

I'm doing my first DE shave tonight. I'll see how the lather goes.

I am sure Sensei will forgive you.

lol!!!

Sorry, but that's funny. BTW, how would Mantic do it with CGI? Go to Dreamworks and spend $100,000, or is there a Photoshop type program for video that would make his lather look absolutely perfect.

There are programs that will do that sort of thing, but I am going to wager on the fact Mantic is just that good.

Stunt lather?

I heard that Mantic's lather is done with silicone....

The water here in the Pacific Northwest is so soft, that pucks of soap have to be triple-wrapped in plastic to prevent them from spontaneously bursting forth in heaps of rich, creamy lather. It's so soft, the ice is squishy. It's so soft, that my new Omega 49 bruises it.

Oh, and I heard that Mantic has a special Merkur that has been modified to take Fusion cartridges, and that Proctor and Gamble is re-introducing Shulton formula Old Spice next week, and that General Mills is coming out with a cereal called "Against the Grain" that has a free Toggle in every box...:001_tt2:

there are mythic men in this world- in the coffee world it is Juan Valdez, Baseball has Babe Ruth, Television comedy has Red Sketon and shaving has Mantic

+1. Mantic points to a spot over the left field wall and firmly grips his Merkur waiting for the pitch . . .:lol:

Don't apologize, Mantic is well known for using CGI in his videos ... especially to make himself appear more handsome.

In reality (without makeup) he looks very much like Sammy Davis Jr

I'm glad to read this. We're on a well with hard water that's high in iron. Have to change 2 large filters before the holding tank every month! Now I know why the foam is'nt flowing forth from my cup!(still better than canned!)
