What's new

proraso soaps, red or white?

I currently have the new formula Proraso Green soap. I found a sale on all the soaps and am seeking advice on which to purchase. I has sensitive skin and am trying to decide between the Red and White soaps. I know the White is specifically advertised for sensitive skin but does it make that much difference against the sandalwood?

I've never used the white, but the red causes me a bit of irritation sometimes if my skin is already a little raw from a previous bad shave, so if your skin is really sensitive the white might be the way to go.

I have the white, and like it a lot. It is not protect any better than the green, but the sensitive skin formulas leave out excess perfumes and dies in case you have a sensitivity towards them. The white has a mild menthol smell/feel to it. Hope this helps.

i use the red 2x a week. Love the smell and lather. performs well. no irritation whatsoever. I thought I had sensitive skin but found I just need to avoid certain products like anything with alphahydroxyl.

I started with the green, and found out I react badly to the Eucalyptus in it. Now I own the white and it has made a world of difference to my shaves! I'd like to try the red sometime, but not till I finish my white.

I like the white. Never tried the red. No mistake whichever you buy, and you'll never know until you try.

I've heard the reason white is for sensitive skin is simply cause the leave out some of the aromatics. Just in case your skin reacts negatively to the fragrance.

I actually have very sensitive skin. I used the Proraso Green preshave, shaving cream and afershave. I found the menthol and alcohol to be very irritating and cause a burning sensation (I know it's not the eucalyptus as I'm an avid user of Dr. Bronner's eucalyptus soap). I switched to the Proraso White preshave cream, soap (tub), and after shave and they work great for me. Just enough menthol to still cool but it is not over powering nor cause any burning. And there's no alcohol in the white line (other then some in the preshave cream I believe).

I also have a tub of the red soap. I love it. It has a nice, mellow, woody smell that lingers all day when I use the white aftershave. I am unable to use several products due to a slight burning or irritation from the added perfumes (any scented Art of Shaving products, for example), but the red is smooth, smells great, and doesn't irritate me at all. I highly recommend it.

I have also tried the Proraso blue cream and aftershave. I find them to be nice, but they do produce a slight itchy feeling on my face if I leave the lather on for too long. Also, the scent is quite powerful.

I have the tricolore - green, white and red. Love them all.

Same here and the tubs look pretty cool when you stack them, just like an Italian flag!
I've been using the Red daily for several weeks now and my skin has been incredibly soft. Must be the shea butter. The scent is mild, warm, and lingers. I don't think you could go wrong with either Red or White, but if the Red doesn't agree with you, I'd be happy to take it off your hands.

I use the white soap regularly with the white preshave. It's an excellent combo for me. Like all of us, I like to try different soaps/products and know that I can always go back to that proraso white preshave/soap combo for a reliably close and irritation free shave.

Occasionally, I put a dab of green proraso cream in with the white soap lather. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to do that but it's been really nice and slick.

Good luck!

I will also add some green cream to the white soap and enjoy it. Adds a bit more menthol which is very comfortable.

I love the sandalwood and it causes me no irritation whatsoever. Im very impressed with the line of Proraso soaps and creams. I sure hope they come out with the blue soap!
