Proraso...Gotta try it!

I used to shave exclusively using Barbasol or edge gel out of my hot lather machine. I came across a tube of Clubman Cream while on a trip and loved the cooling menthol but wasn't a fan of the mediocre lather it provides. After reading the raves about prorasol I gotta have it. Went to bath and body works but they had no tubes of Bigelow. I just ordered a tube of prorasol online and can't freaking wait to try it! I have heard that bed bath and beyond carries prorasol and apparently the city I live in is getting a BBB in the near future. I guess what I am getting at is....do any other retailers carry Prorasol? I believe we have a sally beauty nearby. Would they carry it?

Proraso's got Sodium Laurel Sulfate in it as one of its primary ingredients. It's a harsh chemical used by a lot of cheaper household products to create foam. You'll notice that most of the English products, although slightly pricier, do not use this chemical but rather natural ingredients to create foam. In short, you get what you pay for.

You will begin seeing a big push this year towards more and more sulfate-free options.

Proraso is as safe to use as any pricier cream.

Any chemical can be described as harsh, let's not scaremonger people into thinking cheap products, or certain ingredients, are bad.

I never saw the hype in it. It's good stuff but what's the difference in it, how is it better than others I'd like to know. What ingredient does it have that others do not.

As a newbie DE shaver I've only recently started using Proraso. I've got limited experience with shaving products as I mainly used the "canned goo" until just over a month ago.

I just get the impression it seems like a superior product compared to what I've tried before. I'll be trying a couple of other Proraso products soon to see what they are like.

Having said that I am still learning about things so if people want to recommend other brands I'll listen to them. I'm just going by what I'm experiencing so far.

Well, I must admit that I never thought about SLS in Proraso, although as someone who has the hair on the top of its head thinned, I have been reading a lot of SLS and how it adversely influence those hair follicles. So I switched to no-SLS hair shampoo...On the other hand, would it be that bad when in shaving cream?
I'm using Proraso green tube for some time now, and I prefer it even over some TOBS cream that I have, although TOBS does perform a bit superior! The thing that i like about Proraso is its fragrance, and I like it even better over TABAC.

And price tag is somewhat stimulus too. 6.5 Euros for 150 ml of proraso, against 11.5 Euros for 100 ml of TOBS...Go figure!

Proraso is great stuff!! Quick to produce a rich, creamy, lather; pleasant scent; awesome menthol blast.

I wouldn't worry at all about the SLS, unless you have done through research (many of the sources you might find are not exactly unbiased), and have chosen to eliminate the product from all areas of your life (as it's a primary ingredient in most soaps, and body washes as well).

Proraso is one of my favourite shaving creams and for good reason. It's relatively inexpensive and makes a great, cushioning lather.

One thing I really like about Proraso is that even a thin coat of it works well. I wear a beard and mustache, and if I pile lather thick on my cheeks I end up encroaching on my beard edges until I have to shave it all off and start over.

I have tried a few different creams and soaps and always come back to my green tube of Proraso. I love the stuff.

I love the feeling of that cooling SLS... er.. um.. Menthol!

I like Proraso, both the green and the white, but I prefer it in the tub over the tube. The cost is about the same, and it seems to last much longer. The only advantage of the tube over the tub is that it might be a little faster to work into good lather.

It's been awhile but I had my first shave with Proraso since Target stopped carrying it some years ago. Boy is that menthol feeling nice!!

B+BW is the only retail location to carry Bigelow/Proraso outside of CO. Bigelow stores themselves and the odd random Italian grocery store. It's currently out of stock at all B+BWs, but might be making a comeback soon, no-one has got a straight answer from them yet.
