Proraso Goodness

I love this stuff. This is my first try at using a shaving cream and I'm totally sold on Proraso. I was a soap fan but now I'm now a shaving cream fan and Proraso is my go to cream. I was surprised how little it takes to get a good lather going. Hell one tube could last several months. God I love Proraso.

I agree. Proraso creates a pretty rich lather and my wife loves the smell of it. You may want to try experimenting with noxema as a pre-shave, since the smell is so similar to Proraso.

You may already know this, but the C.O. Bigelow shave cream at Bath & Body Works is the same exact stuff. Last time I went they have a 2 for 1 sale so I stocked up on a couple of large tubes.

I started with Proraso, but I noticed that not after long I was curious about other creams and soaps just to have a little variety. I am currently waiting on some Taylor of Old Bond Street Rose shaving cream to be delivered tomorrow. :w00t:

I bought some Proraso too. Believe it or not i'm a little underwhelmed. It lathers wonderfully, its going to last a long time but i thought it would be more bracing. Its not as cooling as i thought it would be. Maybe i got a bad batch, though it came from a reputable seller who provided a fabulous service.

You get most of the "brace" with your cold water rinse, after the shave. Then hit yourself with a splash of the Osage Rub. Then, when you can see straight again, finish with a nice Proraso balm rub.

If your Proraso shaving cream isn't sufficiently mentholated for your tastes, I recommend starting with some of the Proraso Pre/Post prior to lathering.

Me too. I bought some in Amsterdam for EUR 5.00 a tube ($7.30) and really liked it. I was on vacation in Tuscany last week and found the same stuff for EUR 1.22 a tube. I got another tube plus 2 tubes of Palmolive shaving cream. I tried it out and it seems decent but I like the Proraso better.

I also picked up the Proraso pre/after shave cream. To tell the truth, I don't see much difference between it and Noxema.

Im fairly new to DE shaving... so far i have only used Men-U and Proraso shave creams. I can say now that for the cost of Proraso it will be the main cream in my inventory for a long time to come. The Pre-Post cream is wonderful also!

I still really like Proraso, but when I originally read the reviews they sounded like it was very menthol-ly and heavily scented. Maybe my nose isn't spectacularly powerful, but I too was underwhelmed by the scent. I think I had a pre-conception in my head and the actuals were different, but nonetheless I was pleasantly surprised.

I have the 5.3 oz tube, and I think "months" is an understatement. I'm not seeing a new cream for at least 9 months. After a few months of use, it still seems like it's a full tube, LOL.

+1

Great cream otherwise but Proraso does nothing for me in the tingly fresh feeling dept. Sadness ensues.

Maybe buying menthol or eucalyptus oil and mixing it in would help.
