Lea Classic Shave Cream VS Lea modern

Greetings gents,

I recently tried LEA shaving cream (The modern variation) and it was one of the finest ive ever used.. I really enjoyed its lather and protection and my face was very soft.. I didn't need aftershave even..!

I noticed they have a classic variation of the cream in a silver tube, which also contains an ingredient im a big fan of, Lanolin (wool fat). This is no longer in the modern variation.

Im curious if anyone who has tried both can chime in on whether you found you enjoyed classic or modern and why? I'm keen to try it myself but its sold out currently at my local supplier.

Thank you

I can tell you the Classic is a really nice cream. It has some additional skin care ingredients plus lanolin. Scent on the Classic is different, sandalwood & moss. Classic has just a bit of menthol, not enough to freeze your face, but just enough to be felt.

The Classic can also be found in an aluminum tub with 150ml that is reasonably priced depending on where you look. It seems to be the same as the tube version.

thank you gents. I did end up getting the menthol and the classic cream in a tin to compliment the tube of modern LEA.. the modern one was so impressive i could not resist..

The classic smells so nice and appears to be incredibly rich.. I shall be using it for my next shave .. very keen to compare to the modern LEA.. !

What a great brand..

Just a heads up, but Connaught seems to carry most of the Lea line if you are looking for them. The Lea shave sticks are underappreciated gems.

The classic also comes in a hard soap if you prefer soaps to creams.

Im in Canada so i go to Fendrihan usually! I just had my first shave with the classic lea cream in a tin, which was more of a croap i suppose? Fabulous shave very smooth , very protected, the lanolin is an ingredient i really love and feel. The menthol kick was welcome, I thought it would be milder but it was good, but not as cold as proraso imo.

To compare the modern tube with the classic lea is difficult... I felt both protected my skin really well.. perhaps the modern had a slight edge, but id have to test again several times to come to a solid conclusion.

Now the next shave will be with Lea modern menthol to see where it stands against this Classic LEA ..

Really really impressed with this brand and its value, i will certainly be keeping it in my rotation and it will replace Speick most likely which is decent but LEA is on another level imo.

The entire Lea Classic range is excellent, a cut above the standard range in the white packaging.
I also find the Lea Classic sandalwood moss/scent with (only) a touch of menthol quite attractive.

I have used both and actually prefer the basic version. It is not as concentrated and you need a little more product, similar to other "drugstore" creams like Palmolive.

However, there is almost nothing between them in terms of performance except that maybe the basic is a little slicker and the Classic leaves my face a little dry. By my lights, that's a win for the basic.

That's how I picked up my LEA Professional and Mentolada shaving cream tubes a couple of years ago. Your post also reminded me that I've a couple of LEA shave sticks sitting in a draw that I threw in to top off the order, need to try one of those.

Both of my LEA creams are excellent and the Connaught price could not be beat - especially with the free U.S. shipping that was available back in 2022.
