Possibly defective TOBS Mr. Taylor?

So I bought my roommate a sample razor blade pack and TOBS Mr. Taylor from westcoastshaving.com for Christmas only when I opened the Mr. Taylor to check out the scent something seemed off with the cream. For comparison, I have the TOBS avocado which is moist and definitely has a shine to it. The Mr. Taylor cream seemed dried out and had no such sheen. Do I have a defective TOBS or is that just how Mr. Taylor rolls? :confused1

On a side note, the scent does smell great!

TOBS creams do seem to have a bit of variation when it comes to consistency. I currently have Mr Taylor, Avocado and Lemon/Lime in my rotation and they all look a bit different when in the tub. If you can whip up a good lather with it then there's nothing wrong with it.

Yeah that was kinda my thought as well. Unfortunately he hasn't been able to try it yet but from what I've gathered from further reading, this is normal for the cream to have the type of consistency described before.

I have stocked Taylor Creams for over two years and sampled them out for about as long. I have seen hundreds of tubs of Taylors.

Their is a wide range of consistency in their creams in their tubs and I think this is mainly due to the settling of their creams as the more popular scents get a higher amount of turnover over the less popular ones. I don't think their effectiveness deminishes (or improves) with this aging, but it does make it a create different variables in lathering from different tubs.

In short, there is probably nothing wrong with your cream. Enjoy!

I love Mr Taylor's but won't touch it during the winter as with other cologne based creams. It's the only cream/soap that dries my face out but fortunately is only because of the winter dry weather. As for any other time, I enjoy using it and the smell is a classic.

Try the Avocado or Rose right now. They are in my rotation and do great in moisturizing.
