Pinaud Clubman

I was in Walgreens the other day to pick up a script and happened to notice the Pinaud Clubman. I have read so much on here about it that a picked up a bottle for the whopping sum of $5.99. Now I'm hooked!!!! I love the smell and for the price, it can't be beat. I'll admit it's not as nice as my TH Clubman, but for a fraction of the price, I'll keep buying it!!! What a fantastic, nostalgic fragrance!!!:thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup:

Yes, this particular fragrance has been the hot topic of debate of late!
Glad to hear you're fond of it. Many of us are!!

Clubman...old geezer juice or a bold statement of retro masculinity?

If you've got the nerve, try the Special Reserve.

If you've no sense at all, try the Lilac Vegetal.

im 21, and i love the clubman original aftershave i use it every time i shave. i picked up mine from sally beauty supply. its only $6.49 for a 12.5 oz bottle. and its located in my home town they have a web site to, but i do not know how much shipping cost.

i also use and love the clubman talk also. they smell exactly the same. i would recommend both. it reminds me of the fresh feeling you feel when you go get your haircut at the barbershop. that refreshing feeling of getting the back of your neck shaved with a cut-throat . its just simply refreshing and wonderful.. but dont get it in your mouth as it taste like pure crap.

My mother's cousin was my barber when I was a kid. Every other Saturday my father would take me there for a haircut; it cost $1.75 (I'm 50 yrs old). It was a true old-fashioned barber shop; big bottles of hair tonic and aftershave lined the counter; and of course, no appointment required or accepted (walk-ins only), grab a chair and wait. In the mean time, you'd watch the tiny black and white tv in the corner, or listen to the colorful banter back and forth between my cousin and his customers, or the old men who were just there to hang out or play checkers. It wasn't unusual for my dad to have to explain to me later, in private, what some of the colorful words meant; it was very educational in that way. When it was my turn, they'd put a big board across the arms of the chair so I'd sit up high enough. When done with the actual haircut, he'd put some hot lather on the back of my neck and shave it with a straight, which he honed with a strop that hung from the side of the chair. Then he'd finish it of with a dusting of talc.

I finally gave in and purchased a bottle of Clubman about a month ago. I'd never bothered to try it, as I was confident it couldn't hold a candle to my newer, more expensive aftershaves. Ahem . . .

The sense of smell, and it's connection to the part of the brain where memories are stored, is a powerful and almost magical thing. As soon as I applied the Clubman for the first time last month, BAM! I was right back in the barber shop with my dad. I had forgotten Clubman, in fact, I never knew that I knew what it was, but as soon as I smelled it I recognized it immediately.

"Old Man", "Classic", "timeless", etc.; however you wish to describe it, it is THE barbershop scent for sure, one that will always be near the top of my rotation.

I bought my first bottle of Pinaud a few months ago at a Sally Beauty Supply and was hooked immediately. In a short period of time I started looking into other fragrances and now have the Special Reserve, Raw Vanilla, Musk, Bay Rum, Lime Sec, Citrus Musk and the Lilac Vegetal. I like them all except the Lilac Vegetal. It just smells like a nursing home to me.

I finally bought a bottle. I didn't know what Clubman "smelled like" until I opened the bottle.

Wow, what a rush of memories.

I remember this stuff from the barbershop when I was a kid. That's what it smelled like.

(Well, that and cigars...)

Now you have to try the Lilac Vegetal probably the same price or near it. Of course I have a penchant for anything Pinaud.

Everyone will want some!!

Clubman and the Veg are from the time when men frequented barbers shops and wanted their fragrence to be bold and manly. Today some say that they smell like an old man, to others it brings back fond memories of those vintage days and of the men who made their impact on the world we live in today. I think of my Fathers' era and others in the Greatest Generation and feel proud to wear these fragrences and honor them. I enjoy the modern fragrences as well but, there is nothing wrong with enjoying both worlds.

yup. my first bottle I smelled and wow childhood memories!

The current Pinaud Clubman can indeed be very nostalgic, but the current Pinaud Lilac Vegetol is something else entirely. Perhaps, an alien substance or part of conspiracy to bring down western civilization from within- not that we really need that much help.

have any of you purchased the talc also yet;
its the same scent, just don't pay to much for it
you should be able to find it at any store that sells
barber shop supplies and beauty supplies, for example
sally beauty supply, its only 3.99 for a 9 oz bottle
its 9.00 for the same size bottle at cvs where i live ,
its actually what all the barbershop i have ever went to
put on you after they cut your hair or give you a shave.
the fragrance of the original clubman was made to smell
like the talc, least thats what i was told, but i feel it could
be vise versa.

every time i shave i put on my clubman aftershave then i
get a wash clothe line it with a little talc and gently slap it on
im thinking bout buying a talc brush, a brush you put talc in the butt
of the bristle to get a more controlled amount used.
