For those of you who have tried both, what DE wins. If you were to give one up what DE and why?
I suspect my less than great shave from a Feather blade in my new Feather razor is attributable to learning the technique of using it as well as I know my Pils.
Yesterday, I noticed I didn't get as close a shave as I expected to be able to get with a new Feather blade. Today was no different.
I wish you guys would stop posting about the Pils v. Feather. You are tempting me to buy both - and I can't afford it right now!
Both are beautiful razors and as jgkeegan said, I would love to find this in a yard sale - or pawn shop, or anywhere else.
Well fellows,
After using the Feather for the week, it is clear to me, at least, that the Pils is my choice in this deathmatch.
In summary, that Feather is a remarkably well made tool, machined to perfection. The grip is perfectly positive at all times. The blade presentation is less agressive than the Pils, and I prefer more agressiveness than the Feather was providing. I would recommend the Feather to anyone who wants a top of the line razor that will outlast the owner, and wants something that isn't so agressive as a Pils.
You should have tried Treet carbon blades... But mine is back in the box too. There is a 1915 Gillette Old-type in the stand now. I am going to compare this one to the ASR.
Has anyone tried shimming the head up in the feather razor?
...but, my Pils does what I ask without any special handling, right out of the box.

I had to take care against confirmation bias. I admit I "like" the Pils more and I didn't want it to lose the comparison. But the fact is, for me, I can get a smoother shave from the Pils, and that is the ultimate measure of a razor.
It seems no one is interested in the Feather for $145, though...
How would one do this?
How do you do that?
