Photos of Alternate Grit Pattern Stones, Show Yours

The fabled, Les Lescher. Nice stones.

I always take take that stone with me on the road just in case I need a refresh. At home I still reach for my 8in les lat and larger thuris, but I don't think I'll ever get rid of the Les Lescher. You hooked me up with some good stones, David.

I picked this stone up recently, it is a Japanese suita. Also this unknown razor marked E. Colline, Garantito 12 1/2.

Lapis Lazuli Stone

The little slurry stone is really nice looking, I will post more information on the stone and the honing experience later, all I can say now that it was a very successful experiment.

Are the red spots in the back garnet? or maybe corundum? Alex? Thanks.

I am really not sure what the minerals are but I have not heard yet of garnets mentioned along with the Jnat stones. I am more inclined to guess some type of water soluable mineral that leached into the stone layer. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Here is an interesting one, I bought this JNat couple months ago as Black Nashiji from Japanese Barbershop located in Sakai where I buy most of my JNats, the seller told me the stone is a Narutaki, but without a stamp it can’t be confirmed.

I bought it mainly for the look as I haven’t see any JNat look like it ever, it has lots of Nashiji yellow spots on it lapped surface and they feel somewhat gritty but nothing toxic, the stone is heavy it weight 720g for a 5”*3”*1” it is not a very hard stone 4.5 maybe 5 certainly not feeling like a hard Ozuku at all, the stone has that earthy JNats aroma, a hint of Kawa is lift.

Performance

It is fast cutting stone faster than all of my small collection of JNats no auto-slurring leaves nice fine edge with a hazy mirror finish, the shave is just fine nothing impressive yet nothing bad either. I tested it with a knife and its cut really fast with medium to light pressure, it is hard to tell due to the color of the stone but I think with the knife honing it maybe auto-slurred a bit or it might be the metal swrif I don’t really know….

Interesting stone, and what would be more interesting is if Alex or JNat expert can tell us more about such rare stone (at least to me).

Here's another one of my favorite stones. It's a beefy little 4x2 that's full of manganese that goes all the way through down to the bottom of the BBW
