Pete Carroll Gone

By no means am I an SC fan but I am a fan of a good leader in coaching and felt Carroll was at the forefront but bailing on SC after their worst season?

Im sure all his pep talks were about hard work and discipline so Im stunned. I guess we'll have to hear what he has to say at the press conference.

Fight On or is it just "On" now.

So you think that this move to the NFL will be more successful than his previous one? He has done a pretty fair job of preparing his players to transition to the NFL.

It will be interesting to see him put together his NFL coaching staff. For those who follow USC will there be many coaches who will follow him?

I have to wonder if his move wasn't somehow influenced by the allegations of inappropriate gifting/money to players and the investigaitons by the NCAA. I wonder if he is worried about probations, suspensions, and loss of scholarships affecting his/USC's program.

His salary at USC was $4.4 million a year, USC is constantly top 10 in the nation, they have more money than most small countries, and would probably beat the Seahawks if they were to play them. He's rich, famous, and a hero to one of the largest college football audiences in the country. Why would he throw that all away to be the next coach to die in Seattle?

I'd say either (a) because of the reasons you suggest, or (b) because he has done everything a college football coach can do and wants to prove to himself and/or others that he can do the same in the pros, where he was not really successful his first time around.

What are the opinions of the USC fans about the alleged transgressions? With or without Carroll's knowledge consent? If he knowingly put USC in the position to receive sanctions and then walks out because of the potential, then I'm with Third Eye concerning his credibility.

I agree with Danek. The more one looks at everything that has been going on under Carroll, the more obvious it is that he should move on. The sad thing is that he won't get punished by the NCAA. The school and, subsequently, the kids get punished. Also, there are some players there that are actually using the scholarship so they can go to college and earn a degree. Those kids will lose their scholarships once a new coach comes in. It really should be a crime.

And it didn't take them long to fill the job. The bomb fell in Knoxville after it was announced in L.A. that Kiffin was taking the job. Kiffin came back to town in a hurry to get out, he is scheduled to have a meeting moments from now having just met with the team. Needless to say he needs some bodygaurds, he will have to pay UT one millon to get out of his contract, but his team is not happy. It was well known that he didn't like the cold. It was just announced that he would not allow cameras in his metting to announce his departure. I can;t blame him for leaving, but I never felt he connected with the UT. It was just bad timeing for UT, they should have fired Fullmer sooner. Mybe B. Pearl would tAke the job.

SC must have grabbed the gas can rather than the water because it's fuel to the fire for the land of Troy.
