Peanut butter as alternative shaving cream

Suppose your shaving cream/foam/gel tube/can is empty but you HAVE to shave....

I heard that peanut butter can be used in case of emergency.....has anyone tried that one out? The TV-show "Braniac" have proven that it works...

I've never heard of "Brainiac". However, I can think of few situations where I'd have Peanut Butter and not soap. I'd use liquid hand soap or any standard bar soap for a shave before I'd try using peanut butter. If you try it, let us know how it goes. I can't imagine it would work very well.

+ 1 on olive oil. PB has too much stickiness. I would think that you'd goo up your razor by your second stroke!

Never mind the fact you'd have a hard time getting it on thin enough to actually work. If it were too thick I'd think the razor would just remove a layer of PB.

You do know what your avatar is right?

And yeah I can't think of a situation where that would even be necessary. If I only have a jar of peanut butter and a razor with me then clearly I have more to worry about than shaving.

Indeed I could probably tell you things about that Brainiac (all 13 incarnations of him) that would make me look really geeky. I meant the show.

And I agree if all you have is a razor and PB you have bigger issues!

If I only had a razor and PB, I would use the razor to cut a couple of slices of bread and make a sandwich while I grow a beard
Cheers

PS I once shaved with shower gel, only once, never again.

This, pretty much.

I would use any kind of hand soap, bar soap, hair conditioner, shampoo, olive oil maybe, before I would peanut butter... its just too thick!

You sure to don't want to continue off on that tangent?:lol::lol:

This might work with natural style peanut butter which doesn't have the heavy paste like consistency of the regular kind. Natural peanut butter is fairly runny, and therefore really messy. :tongue_sm

Hey, when life gives you lemons....

Someone, either here or on SMF, has the following quote in his signature:

“If you don't mind smelling like peanut butter for two or three days, peanut butter is darn good shaving cream.”

Ok, for me anyway, I think the temptation would be to lick the blade. NOT GOOD IDEA! I suppose if there was no alternative I may give it a shot, atleast to say I dun it, but my Iwasaki is sharp enough to give me a good dry shave if need be.

I've tried olive oil, 100% Aloe Gel, Mineral oil, Noxema, and others. My skin is super sensitive & things with too much oil break me out (noxema, mineral oil, olive oil); things with too much soap dry me out.

Seeing peanut butter sounds like a good idea, Have you considered KY Jelly?
. . .hmmmmmm, that's one to try, and fun for her too. . .

I would really love for someone to try this and report back. I can't, I'm too new and don't have a good enough shaving technique
