Packing AS for checked luggage?

While in St. Martin on vacation, I have bought several (!) bottles of local aftershaves that will need to be packed into checked luggage for the trip home. What's the best way to pack them to ensure they arrive safely? Some are glass bottles, and one of the plastic botles is notorious for having a poor seal.

I'm not sure if this is a proper way but when I've taken my cologne in checked luggage I put it in a ziplock bag then inside a few pairs of socks that i'm taking, or just packed between my clothes to provide cushion. might want to put it in a ziplock bag then that bag in another ziplock bag if you are really worried about it leaking.

ALWAYS tape the lids down after making sure they are good and snug, then pack in ziplock and put inside something as stated above...

Concur with both statements above. Plastic, sealable bags are a must and any kind of cushions helps (socks, wrapped in a towel, etc.). You could always buy some bubble wrap, but I don't see that being more effective than wrapping it in what you already have in your luggage.

The important question is: what did you find in St. Martin? Tell us about the new stash!

My favorite method, I haven't lost a bottle yet. For the Alocaldo Glacial, I'd take off the cap and put plastic wrap over the opening, screw on the cap and then tape.

I seal the caps good with electrical tape, it provides a good seal. Then put in a ziplock bag, just incase it leaks or breaks, then I wrap in a towell and place it in my bag in between clothing.

If it's more than 70% alcohol or over 5 liters you are not allowed to take it on board a plane. Other than that just make sure it doesn't leak or break.

I made it home in one piece with zero leakage. I ended up buying a cheap suitcase ($13) and checked all of the AS in it. I wrapped the glass bottles in bubble wrap and then put them in a cardboard box. The others were slipped in some socks inside of ziplock bags in case they leaked. I also added some plastic (part of a bag) to the seal on the Alcolado Glacial. I then used clothes on the outside of everything and to fill in all of the spaces.

TSA left me an inspection notice in the bag, and they were nice enough to fold the clothes better than I did. :closedeye
