Open comb

What's the odds of an early 1900's open comb tooth being straightened?
I've learned recently, old things can be... delicate.

It depends what tooth it is. Corner ones are the toughest and are more of 50/50 risk. The inner combs can be gently adjusted by using a flat head screwdriver and gently prying it. However, I really wouldn't touch it if it doesn't negatively affect your shave.

Signed King Gillette, guess it's best left alone. ;)
My luck with adjusting things of late make it more like 60-40, more likely to break.

did it work?

Just curious, would it be a good idea to apply some heat?

I've done it and it works but it will tarnish the plating. Use a wool or leather glove because brass and copper conduct heat like no one's business. I usually wait until it turns ember red and use some small needle nose pliers and/or small flat head screwdriver to help. Even at this heat you need to gently pry, a tiny bit at a time. I've fixed combs by using a pencil torch but I usually replate the ones I fix. I'm more confident doing old type style razors because of my misfortune of snapping NEW standards or NEW heads.
