It is normally used for dips and stuff. Glazed pottery... I vigorously negotiated with my wife to use it as a scuttle. It's mine now... come on beard grow fast! we have a scuttle to break in!
NICE! Looks like the perfect size. Well done! You'll have to be sure to make it up to her in some way. Sometimes our Honeys don't understand our shave sickness.
Early on I discovered that our stoneware cereal bowls were perfect for lathering, but my wife vigorously objected to me using anything from "her" kitchen for shaving. On the good news side, she hasn't said anything about how much I've spent in the last 5 months so we're both happy with the arrangement.
first time I used and it is perfect! I poured some scalding water in the reservoir and started to make some lather then sat the bowl on the reservoir. It kept it warm all through the shave... I came back half an hr later after shaving and the thing still very hot lol
My shaves keep getting better. I talked to my wife about the origins of this item. Apparently it's a wedding gift from long ago. A hand-made pottery item that is called a dip chiller. I call it a damn good wedding gift!
I've been married 15 years so I rummaged around and found all the guest book, gifts list etc from the wedding...nothing remotly close to a shaving scuttle...sigh.
Guess I will have to be content with the lovley wife and happy daughter that has come with the package
