Omega Mighty Midget In All Boar

I was familiar with the Omega Mighty Midget in silvertip (#599), and in the mix of pure badger and boar (#11047). However, I just discovered and got the Mighty Midget in all boar (#40033). What a superb little brush! The specs are:

Overall length: 88mm
Loft: 48mm
Knot diameter: 23mm

Basically, it's a medium brush in a very small handle. However, the handle is still manageable and I have large hands. I've used it on soap twice and had no trouble generating enough lather for a 3 pass shave. I first thought of it as a neat travel brush, but it's good enough to use occassionally in one's everyday rotation.

Only $5.99.

Agreed. what a great little brush... used it this morning with Cella........ can I say smoooothhh.... love the subtle scrub........ and mine is still breaking in... It is seeing more face time than my silvertip.

The Mighty Midget in all boar , #40033 , is also available at Pasteur Pharmacy in NYC for $3.99 .
I like this brush too , but got a stinker ; it's taking longer than usual to get the smell out .
Still , this may be a candidate for best bang brush .

Is there any other place to get it online? I understand the "minimum purchase" concept for small vendors but sometimes I only get a specific item.

I have the boar/badger mix. What a great deal these little guys are. It outperforms many brushes well past its pricepoint IMO.

I've been eying that brush, I may have to pull the trigger now

I've eyeballed that brush many many times. The ivory colored short handle always kept me away though, but I always liked the specs of the knot. I decided to pick up a 13522 in it's place which has basically the same specs, but a 47mm handle instead of 40mm. I'm very happy with it.

I added a few inexpensive black O-rings for grip and looks and think it improved the handle. This brush has broken in nicely and I use it all the time. This summer, it has gotten more use than my Rooneys. A great value.

I also have the 11047 which I think is a perfect travel brush...

I've only had the Mighty Midget for a little under a week...but it is truly a great value for $13. Perfect travel brush, that seems to already be broken in in the short amount of time I've owned it. Does it get better over time? I'll let ya know my experience.

I have been using the Wide Waist Mighty Midget Boar (40033) for two years. I had ordered a number of cheap boar brushes in hopes of finding one to my liking. My first impression was that it was too stiff, having too much backbone, and I was disappointed in its performance. I put it in the shower rack and used it with soap to apply lather as pre shave preparation. After about a month I noticed that the tips split and softened and the backbone had moderated somewhat. I decided to give the brush another go.

The knot performed very nicely to my surprise. It works very well with creams and soaps. It paints very well and has great backbone. It does not bloom as much as other brushes with use. You have to push it a little bit to get it to splay, which is a desirable for me. I do not care for floppy knots at all. It has become my favorite boar knot. I prefer it to the Semogue knots I own.

The down side for this brush is the handle. It is not that small but very uncomfortable to use. The ridging is very sharp and uncomfortable to hold. I rehandled the knot with the handle of brushes that did not work for me. I used the wooden handle of a very inexpensive horse hair brush and a Vulfix VS series brush.

I am pretty much a boar user. I find I reach for these brushes most often. I have purchased three more ready to rehandle if the ones currently in use fail. This knot just works for me! YMMV.

I would add that this brush has lost only 10 hairs in two years use. Some other boar brushes I have used have shed profusely. Other boar knots may perform better, I just have not found one. Considering the $6 price tag, this knot is a winner.
