What's new

OK so right now...I'm a Tech guy

I thought I had purchased a FatBoy...but the deal fell through, so did the deal on the Slim...so its 2 Techs and a Travel Tech.

So here is my question...Being a newbe...should I settle down, and get comfortable with the Techs?

I would like a Super Speed at some point, and an adjustable...but maybe for now...concentrate on blades, brushes and soaps...

This is just my thoughts...I am a jump in with both feet kind of guy...

Based on reading the threads it seems like folks have a couple of Techs around, but have moved on to other razors pretty quickly...are there some who justg get the Tech and that is fine for use and the others are just collectable???

Are you getting acceptable results with your Tech? If so, why change?

I think it's a good idea to settle on one razor for a month or three, while your technique settles. I didn't do that, but I think I would have done better if I had. It takes time to build up technique and muscle memory.

I got an early model (triangular hole) Tech and it actually replaced my Superspeed as my everyday razor. It was just the right balance for me.

I love my Tech! give it a decent try, work on your technique with one set up. We've all been tempted by RAD...But it's very easy to start throwing in too many variables, to your shave, before you've mastered the basics.

Ball end tech for me.
I've got both british and USA fat handled techs (both straight slots, not triangular), but I prefer the solid ball end tech.
It's not my best razor, I prefer a NEW or a GEM 1912 over a tech, but I like it more than the bulkier TTO razors, even more than my adjustables when I load that tech with a feather.

Keep on using the Tech. The Techs are great razors, and not just for newbies.

There is a reason why they were manufactured for so long!! (Gillette actually still makes them today for sale in India).

I have shaved with around 25 different razors, and still shave most often with a Tech, which is oddly enough the style of razor I started with.
