What's new

Offroadin' 4x4 lovin' sons of.

What do you got, where do you live, how dirty do you get it, etc... etc...

Not the greatest picture, but here's my JKU sport. I have a 2.5" Rock Krawler kit on it and some protective goodies. Wheels and tires should be next.

Im about to get rid of my 4x4, as I've moved states and don't get to take it offroad anymore.

Currently got a Holden Jackaroo (Isuzu Trooper) short-wheel-base.

No lift, just all terrains and a bullbar.

When I'm back in Sydney she usually gets a run on the beach (lots of sand dunes - love them), and the odd trip out bush. The mud around my old place in sydney was basically clay, so it was a massive chore to clean up after.

Xterra SE 4x4, stock height. Putting a 2" Nisstec suspension lift and Billstein 5100's under it as soon as I get the time to do the install. Tires will be next after that.

My current rig is an '03 Dakota, currently sitting at stock height on 265/70 BFG ATS. Full skid-plates, anti-tortion bar, electric lockers front and rear, sealed engine, electric fan w/ cutoff and a whole ton of Rhino-lining (entire undercarriage) rounds out the mods I've done so far. Waiting in the wings are custom tube-bumpers, a partial exo, a 10,000lbs Warn and lots of driving lights; with a lift (3" susp., 2" body) and 35's planned for the spring.
Sorry for all the pics, I couldn't pick just one...

Getting Muddy, Stave Lake (Florence Ck. FSR) - don't normally bog, but what the heck!

The aftermath (why I don't normally bog...several power-washings and a couple of months later and I'm still finding hidden pockets of red muck.)

You guys make me jealous. My first real car was a '79 FJ-40, which is still probably pulling up stumps somewhere in the Shenandoah Valley. I finally succumbed to pressure and sold my beloved 1998 Cherokee and have joined the ranks of sad, pavement-bound drivers.

If you all saw my 79 Suburban, you might get very scared

A woman and the kids, and the dogs and me
I got a shotgun, rifle and a 4-wheel drive
Country folks can survive"

Just picked up a 2013 Taco TSS SR5 4x4 with BFG AT's 265/65's on upgraded 17's. Too old to bog or crawl so will just keep it stock for gettin around dirt roads, ice and deep snow stuff. At least until the warranty runs out or mid life crisis sets in. :) No pics of mine yet, but it is identical to this one.

Yeah, I kill animals but my lady kills bigger ones. Trying to convince her to make the transition to straights haha, she's afraid she'll sever her Achilles.

Nice Tacoma Babweiner! I see you debadged it. Did you darken the front grill yourself, or did it come stock that way? Any kind of lift or leveling kit on it?

I debadged, blacked out the chrome in the headlights, it does have a lift/leveling kit. I need to add a leaf to the rear or something because that topper is so heavy, if I've got a full load it bottoms out. The grill came black stock. I love the new TSS wheels, mine is an '08, I should have bought the '09 but it was the last '08 on the lot and I got a pretty sweet deal on it. I really wish it had a manual transmission but aside from that I'm pleased as pie with it.

Love my little Jeep. It's just a 4-cylinder with 31" tires, but damn does it take a beating! Here's a pic from some Christmas day fun with my uncle and his son.

And right after getting the new meat on her.

Those tires look great on your jeep. I would have to lift & cut to get 31"'s on my Taco.

Really? That surprises me; I always thought Toyotas had a lot of clearance in the wheel wells. You're running the same size tire as I am on my Xterra, so it's already really close to a 31" tire, just about a half inch shy. I can go up to a 285/70 (~33") without cutting anything, but it starts to get really close at that point. Some tires will fit, while others will rub. I remember 31x10.50's were a popular upgrade for Toyotas back in the day, but those were the mid-90's Toy P/U. Anything less than a 31" looked undersized on those trucks really.

Looking at the pics, it looks like maybe the front tires on the newer Toyotas ride a lot closer to the back edge of the front wheel well. I'm guessing that might be your where your clearance issue would be for a larger tire?

Everything that I've read on Tacoma forums suggest that on the newer models, 265/70's is as big as one can go with out rubbing. But that is on 17" rims. I'm sure with smaller rims a taller tire can be fitted, but the newer Taco wheel wells do seem quite shallow to me front & back.

It's really simple to cut out bits of the plastic in the wheel well, I had to cut some out of the front of my wheel well. I just used a dremel, it took about ten minutes for both sides. I'm sure you could stick 31's under that TSS with minor cutting and they would fit just fine.

Love that TJ, Flynnster. I old my '04 when we moved from San Diego to NYC and needed to go down to one car. Still regret it.
