Notched Guard Bars

I noticed on a post that had a picture of a Gillette Tech box with these marketing ideas,

"SOLID BAR SMOOTHES SKIN AHEAD OF SHAVING EDGE,"

and

"NON-SKID TREAD NOTCHED ON GUARD BAR PREVENTS RAZOR FROM SLIDE SLIPPING."

Do you think the guard bars/notches accomplish this?
