Norelco Bodygroom?

Let me preface this by saying, I wasn't sure if this was the correct place to post this.

But onto the main topic. I was wondering if anyone on here had the Norelco BodyGroom? And if they could give it a short review? It's summer time here now and I just shed my winter coat ie; trim and shave. Pretty much just my chest, abs and um lowers. With just a catridge, I was able to get a close shave everywhere except for my chest, because the hair grows in all different directions. I am basically looking for this as a faster alternative to keep it all nice and tidy. If you have a BodyGroom, please feel free to chime in.

I had one and wasn't totally thrilled with it. The trimmer does get close enough without irritation but will never achieve BBS. Mine fell apart after a year. Now I use a Mangroomer to chop down the large stuff and an old Norelco plug in for the close stuff.

I've got a bodygroom. It's decent, really the only plus side is it's wet/dry. But other than that it isn't spectacular, I'm not a big fan of the design of it at all either. I bought a conair beard/mustache trimmer about a year ago and use it exclusively. It was 30 bucks at target, and it's very versatile, came with 3 different guards and 3 different heads. I use it all the time, for everything.

I agree with Rick. It pulls and tugs and is pretty uncomfortable to use... I've have better luck using my old fusion.

It seems to have a short lifespan: most people contest theirs lasts less than 1-2 years. For the steep price, get a cart and disposable blades. Or find a DE razor to keep in the shower, and use blades before you throw them away.

I have one as well, it has fallen apart a few times, but I have managed to get it back together...i still use it from time to time, but it pulls hairs more than it trims them...I think the only redeeming quality is that its wet/dry but I wouldn't buy another one.

I recently got one

I got the pulling sensation the 1st time I used it

BUT

But

The trick is to go slowly until you get a hang of it; when you do, it can give a good irritation-free trim, not pull

Good advice.

I got one and the trick is to go slowly.

It does a decent job.

Had 2 of these Body Grooms, both fell apart, was complete junk in my opinion.. I would be interested in checking out the pro series but my suspicions are that it will be junk as well.. Best Bet is a cartridge razor, DE razor and a trust worthy partner for the back! And an Electric Clipper *haircut kits works great for the longer hair!

Cheers,

OK, this is a YMMV thread! I've had two, the older and newer, have gotten 2-3 years out of the old one, and both do a fine job. BTW, it's NOT supposed to give you a BBS shave, it's supposed to leave stubble! I'm quite hairy, and it does a great job, IMO!!

I use it wet in the shower, just soap up with your body wash/shower gel, and go over the hairy parts with no comb attachment. Rinse often. 2 passes and I'm good to go. Avoid the "privates" unless you use the "comb" attachment. No problems here. I love mine. Use it every 2 weeks.
