What's new

Noreaster blizzard of doom 2013 thread

80 degrees and sunny here, but a bit too windy for it to be a beach day

Same here in St. Petersburg, FL. I have come to the conclusion that the "joys" of change of season is B.S. A few weeks ago we were visiting some relatives in Indiana. The weather was horrible. Couldn't wait to get back home.

For many years I lived in western NJ, in an area where is seemed to snow in the winter whenever the NYC area just had rain. Plus, with the company I worked for I made many winter trips on Upper Michigan, Minnesota, Maine, North Dakota, etc. I don't miss those days a bit - although they do give me some conversation starters.

I think if you have 2 pounds of pipe tobacco, 4 handles of bourbon and a copious amount of beef jerky you should weather the storm rather well.

Bah, snow. It happens every year and every year people freak out about it. We were supposed to have this magical snow/freezing rain blast and there were threats of school closing, etc.

Turns out it is just a light snow fall so far. About 1/2 an inch.

Back when I was a kid........

I'm in Clearwater! My mom keeps wanting me to go back up to Rochester NY for Thanksgiving/Xmas and just doesn't get that 50 degrees is painfully cold for me now!

+1 Amazing advice  We are only supposed to get a few inches were I live as we are on the fringe of the massive storm, but I would actually like to get some more. Love the snow.

I made the mistake of putting of my weekly shopping until last night. Seems to have been a run on bananas, lol.

We are expecting 90km.h winds and around 35cm of snow this weekend because of the Nor'easter.

In the words of Captain Edward Smith, "A little ice and snow has never killed anyone. Bring it on!"

I might be paraphrasing

In Chicago, where we had several weeks of weather in the single digits, we hit the upper 30s yesterday. I saw guys out running in their shorts. Me, I didn't need to zip up my jacket when I walked the dog. It felt like a heat wave.

It's snowing here now, but not as seriously as what's supposed to hit the northeast. I don't mind it at all. My border collie mix loves snow, I work from home and I live in a neighborhood where I can walk to everything (grocery store, drug store, bank, liquor store, etc.) so I don't even need to worry about driving conditions.

I love the change in seasons, too. Nothing could make me move to Florida. As they say often here on B&B, YMMV.
