I believe the idea originated here by @BigAlVista (but I might be wrong). The general idea is to do another B&B's Blade Bonanza with well-known blades. Before you pull the pitchforks and fire, a discussion occurred in the original thread based on what we all discussed.

DATA -> Blade_Bonanza_-_2025_-_Top-Tier_Blades_Edition - https://www.badgerandblade.com/forum/wiki/Blade_Bonanza_-_2025_-_Top-Tier_Blades_Edition

The blades that we decided on are:

Blade
Total
Nacets (PPI)6
Feathers (Japan)5
Perma-Sharps (PPI)5
Bic Chrome Platinum (Greece)4
Gillette Silver Blue (Russia)4
7'oclock Blacks (India)3
Personna Lab (USA)3
Wizamets (PPI)3
Schick Edgewell (Germany)
Extra
Wilkinson Sword (Germany)
Extra
IMG20250111090723.jpg

So, how does it work? Easy, we agree on a blade that we will use for a week (or so). During that week, we will post about that particular blade. The only thing left will be to decide when we start this adventure.

Let me list who I have that will participate:
Apologies if I missed someone. @blethenstrom are you in?

Sounds like fun. I'll look into getting the three or so I do not have.

That said I'll probably be absent in February for the One Blade Challenge but will follow the thread avidly.

Can someone clarify if the Comfort Coat Personna is the "Lab Blue"?

It will also be interesting to find out what the first blade will be, I wish I could start right away with Bic Chrome Platinum so the least favorite blade on the list comes off right away.

I will sit this one out this time around. Thank you for thinking of me. I will however follow along.

I've got the German made Wilkinson Sword handy, but not the Edgewell Schick ones.

Frankly, I have been of the opinion that these blades are just the same blades sold to different markets with different packaging. Schick and Wilkinson Sword are brands under the control of Edgewell.

Though these Schicks are made in Germany, too, you won't find them here in local stores (thus I haven't used one of them to date), whereas Wilkinson Sword miG is broadly available in every brick-and-mortar store in Germany.

I might be wrong, though. Did your tests reveal significant differences wrt to these two blades? @helicopter

If anyone was willing to help out with the missing for me Personna Lab blade and/or the Schick blade, I'd offer a blade trade (as otherwise it would kick me out of GRUYERE...).

Two or perhabs three blades of each would be sufficient for my needs.

We could add them to make it an even 10 blades tested.

Happy to help, Guido. The two blades are quite similar, if not identical. If you want a tuck of Schicks, and/or a few Lab Blues, PM me. I'm sure we can figure a way to keep you Gruyere compliant.

I am in Italy, the same reasoning. I think if Edgewell Schick blades were readily available in local markets in Germany they would be just as readily available in Italy and other parts of Europe. This is not the case. I like this game mainly because it reminds me again that blades like Bic Chrome Platinum and Wilkinson Sword, Gillette Platinum easily available locally are the blades I like the least.

For a long time I have been looking for Edgewell Schick blades, if I knew they were about the same as Wilkinson Sword blades I would drop everything. Instead at the opposite I think the Edgewell Schick novelty I would like, while Wilkinson Sword always doesn't appeal to me...only to find out here that maybe they are pretty much the same blade. 😄

They are the same. I think people could use either one if we want to add them, and that using both would be superfluous. I mean, I have both, and am happy to spend two weeks on them, but I am satisfied that they are the same.

The Schick is not  difficult to get in the US, but it gets here via third country primary markets; mine are from China and South Africa.

We get a bunch of European Market Wilkinson Swords. The one with primary distribution in the US is a Wilkinson Sword Classic.

We also have primary distribution of the Wilkinson Sword Quad Blade cartridge, and then we get the Schick brand for all of the other cartridges.

I am not sure if the Chinese made Schick injector gets to us from a third country or if it has primary distribution here. It seems to come through the same channels as foreign primary market traditional shaving blades, so my guess is a third country.

I have a good stock of everything, and can share with anyone who is signed up and needs them, but let's see what @Luc says about the whole thing.

I do not have any Wilkinson Sword or Edgewell Schick. Both made in Germany I guess?

For my Canadians colleagues, the Wilkinson are the ones in pharmacy? The black and white package?

I don't believe that I've seen the Schick, where do you get those? I don't mind buying some and sharing but it might take a bit to get them and redistribute. Things I do for you cheese heads!

They are all made in Germany to the same specification, and are all the same as the ones you can get at the pharmacy.

The Americans have been getting the South Africa market Schick packaging one from TRC, mostly. I think someone else has it too.

If you want either or both, for yourself or all of the Canadians, send me a PM.
