What's new

No longer a newbie Maybe and now an obsession (Not sure if this belongs here or Not)

*So as the title says I'm not 100% sure if this belongs here but it is about Shaving.*
It All Comes With Time
So A guy I Play online video games with on the internet got me started with DE Shaving. I Instantly Fell in love. I started with a basic starter Kit I bought off Amazon and just started plucking away and getting the hang of things. Learning to make lather took me forever. Then I started with just picking random blades out to just choose the yay or nay of the blades that my face liked. Then the other day I found the blade that I instantly fell in love with. Instead of running to the computer to buy 100 of them I decided to talk to my friend about them he hooked me up with some blades to try some trading. As well as a few derby blades since I tried the one derby in my sampler when I was still a complete newbie. The same day I found the blade I tried Creams for the first time. I fell in love with Taylor of Old Bond Street Lavender shaving cream. It was so easy to use smelt great and gave me the best shave I've ever had.

Beginners Luck?
So I live out in the middle of nowhere because of The Military. When I say no where I basically mean I have to drive a few hours to shop at the major stores or Eat at some of my favorite restaurants. But in the last week I guess it was straight luck. So after I went to a going away for my Favorite boss I've had in the military so far I decided to go check some of the antique shops that we had in town for some Old School metal Signs that he collected. The first one I walked into had the sign I wanted as well as a few double edge razors. At the Time I knew that Gillette made some nice Razors but I had no idea what they were or how to tell what I was getting. I knew I wanted to try something besides my Lord 3 Piece. So unbeknownst to me I got my hands on a nice Gillette Flair tip for 10 bucks. The owner of the shop then turned me on to another shop down the street that had a much better selection. So I went down there just to look. That's where I saw a bunch of different razors from some old German Made straight Razors a few unopened brand new Razors. The shop even had a blade sharpener with instructions and its original box. Then I saw them He had a a stack of about 5 adjustable razors sitting on a shelf so me being me I asked about them and bought 2 of them. So I bring them home talk to my buddy about them and start learning how to clean them. Come to Find out I Picked up an Gillette Adjustable Slim and a Gillette Fat Boy. So I cleaned them up and couldn't wait to get to shaving. Then Today I went back to the same shop to see If I could score another for my friend who got me started on all of this and got Another Fat Boy this time in a case and some Gillette Thin blades. The case was badly damaged but it still looks good and I think is peaty neat to hold on to.

The New-Newbie
So the other day at work while I was looking at some things on the internet one of the kids came up to me and asked about DE shaving since He heard I was doing it from some of us talking about it. So I hooked him up with were to buy the soap and a brush and then handed him my Lord with a blade while he waits for his stuff to come in. He called me this afternoon to thank me and be amazed with how it all works and how awesome of a shave it was. So when I was out today I found another Slim Adjustable that I'm gonna clean up and hand him in a week or 2 once he gets the hang of things. As well as probably handing him a sample of a cream or 2.

All In all
I think I fell in love with all of this and the closeness of the shave. I remember the first post I threw up about how it should be cheaper then using cartridges and got a few good laughs at people. But In the month and some change that I've been using a DE razor I have loved Every shave and Most of my shopping was hobby shopping or shopping to find new things. I figure in the long run when its all said and done and I find my blade of choice and the soap/cream that I love I will probably just buy the Rare or fun things that I see around and still save more money then going through a box or 2 of cartridges a month. Also it makes it super simple when I have to go on rapid trips. I just have to grab one kit and go.
