Hello... New to the this site and to wet shaving.. I purchased a muhle r106.. Was not very happy with it because it kept slipping out of my hand due to the slick black handle. I returned it and ordered a merkur 34c HD due to the reviews. Just wanting some opinions to see if I made a good choice. Let me know what you think.

fine choice. I have one. its a really nice razor. hefty, short, does the job.
It gets a lot of love here. Doubt you'll regret it.

Agree it's a good choice. I'm about 6 months ahead of you in the game and loving it. You'll never look back. I found that picking up some classic razors is a great way to try different things and not break the bank!

I have the golden 34G. It's a fine gem for starting wetshaving. After you get comfortable shaving with it, try to play with the blade angle. If you raise the handle and start shaving without the safety bar touching your skin the blade will cut more efficiently and you feel less tugging. Personally I believe the safety bar is a tool, it stretchs and levels your skin before the blade.
