New in Box Gillette Aniversary Set No. 52a

HI,

Just picked up this little beauty at the local markets. for the princely sum of $12 NZD!

It's brand new, never used, in it's original box, with a 10 pack of Gillette blue blades! Is it likely they are shave worthy?

What razor have I got here? I think it's a rocket of some descripton, would I be correct in this?

I'm certainly no expert on the British Gillettes . . . (that could be a rocket?)

I do know for a fact that that is one fine looking razor at one heck of a good price!!

Your lucky day, for sure!!

:thumbup1:

yep, pretty damn happy with it.

Aparently she had another one there earlier as well. Sold just before I got there!

I almost (but only almost) feel bad for haggling her down from her original price of $15 lol
:lol::lol::lol:

Congrats on an excellent find! An NOS heavy-duty Rocket isn't something you see every day. Are you planning on using it (as opposed to collection/display)?

any ideas what it's ebay value would be these days?

I have half a mind to put it out there so that a collctor might be able to get their hands on it!

I dont need NOS for my daily shaves!

Very nice HD Rocket.:thumbup1: I've never seen one with the outer slipper. If you decide to shave with it,don't use the old carbon blades. They suck.:thumbdown

Nice find. If I was you I would hang on to it, unless you are incredibly lucky or sitting on a gold mine of undiscovered razor gems you're not going to run across too many razors like this one.
There's a good chance the blades will have deteriorated beyond shaving happiness being uncoated carbon steel, but there's only one way to find out. Personally I wouldn't bother but keep the blade pack intact and the value up. The blades will be date coded and will tell you the date the razor was manufactured though.

I would not use it if I was you. You can easily sell it, intact, for well over $100 to a collector. With that you could easily buy another used one here on BST and still pocket three to four times what you originally paid.

very very nice.

How much does it weigh?

I don't know if the all-aluminum HD or the aluminum-handle HD have different designations....

Yah, what those guys said. It's a collector's piece. If your dying for an HD I'm sure you could trade this one for an HD plus cash.

NICE RAZOR.

agreed- this would be like using an antique fire cracker. This thing is mint and you owe it to history to not use it, but rather appreciate it or sell it to someone who will. just my $.02

Would it be wrong to offer it on the BST?

How much should I be asking?

I would really like a nice hd, but as I said earlier, I dont need NOS!
