New H.I.S. shaving brush handle announcement

For those who are fans or who want to be fans of the H.I.S. shaving brush and have asked for an alternate brush handle.

The original thread:
http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/287195-H-I-S-Synthetic-Brush?highlight=

Some one on an another board asked if a clear handle brush was to be made based on an image on the FM website.

Well, read the email I received below for the answer to the clear brush handle.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,

Thanks for your support of our H.I.S shaving brush, your review and your recommendations. Our manufacturer actually mentioned the availability of the clear handle version of the H.I.S brush last week, but we weren't sure if there would be any interest. Based on your email below, we will place an order with our manufacturer next week and make them available on Amazon.com in the next few weeks. It will most likely be the same product listing with the option to purchase the black or clear handle.

FYI - The web site mentioned below is the Thailand sister site of our manufacturer FM Brush Company (http://www.fmbrush.com). They have two manufacturing facilities US and Thailand.

Thanks again for all of your support. We sincerely appreciate your interest and patronage.

Best Regards,

That's good news! These brushes (and the FS Synthetics) are really good. I find them to be better than the much ballyhooed Muhle Silvertip Fibres brushes.

If you're a fan of soft tips coupled with backbone, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better value than the FS Synthetic or the HIS.

I just got one! I used it this evening after soaking it for 5 minutes. It was pretty stiff. As a total newbie to synthetics, does anyone know any maintenance/break-in tips?

I have two synthetics (one [greatly overpriced] Omega-made Men-u Premier, one Muhle HJM black fibre [$25 delivered via Connaught Shaving]), and I don't think there's any kind of break-in, for example, nothing you can do to soften the tips, etc. (other than give it a good rinse, perhaps with a shaving soap or mild shampoo, before first use). I've had the Omega for a year, and it's remained much stiffer than the Muhle black fibre, which has been quite soft to the face from the start. Neither brush's characteristics or performance have changed over months of use. I now use the Men-U Premier for head shaving, the Muhle for my face.
