Need Help With Hair Product

I have generally short hair, especially on the back and sides and I find that no matter what, I can't hold down the frizz. I've tried various shampoo's, conditioners, gels, waxes, oils. Some have come close to helping, but I almost have to add so much product that it feels like my hair is full of glue and is as hard as a helmet. I'm sure there's some products out there that you don't run into almost daily in places like Target or Walmart. Any suggestions?

I have started using Nancy Boy pomade and I am very pleased. It is water based and provides a smooth matte finish hold without being "helmet head"

I also have their hair cream, which is lanolin based, and that is more of a classic shiny finish

Have you tried either a hair oil, like Taylor's Lavender Brilliantine, or a good quality hair cream like Brylcream or Booster's Lanolin hair cream. I use one of these and I lightly spray the whole thing with hair spray once it's styled.

Ion from Sallys' beauty supplies works for me. Peruse their web site for ideas.

Skincare Rx has a licensed ethestecian that could find the correct products for you.

Try shampooing less, maybe every other day. You may be stripping your hair of its natural oils. That would be the cheapest thing to try first! A lot of people love shampoo bars since they are a soap, not a detergent like many shampoos, so they don't strip your hair as much. Styling products are hard to recommend as there are so many different ones. I prefer pommades that are petroleum based. The heavier ones don't have as much shine and they never harden but still keep my hair in place.

I find American Crew Grooming Cream works for me (but you can find that in the stores you mentioned and pretty much any drug store) and a little goes a long way.

PS my hair is frizzy but on the fine side.
