Mysore Premium vs. Enriched vs. Classic?

My wife is making me ditch the Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castille soap because of the crazy amount of soap scum it leaves. I said "you are giving me permission to search for a new soap? Fine by me".

What is the difference between Mysore Premium, Mysore Enriched, and Mysore Classic?

The description on Amazon don't distinguish between Premium, Enriched, or Classic, but the pictures seem to show that there are at least these three types of Mysore Sandalwood soap.

Any ideas? Which would you recommend?

Thanks

Premium and Enriched are the same thing. "Premium" is just the new packaging. "Classic" has more glycerin than the former, developed for NRI's (Non-Return Indians) in colder climates like England and the US where colder weather means dry skin. Curiously, my bars of Mysore Classic are not transparent as per that picture.

All three have the same scent. "Classic" is a larger, 125g bar. There's also Mysore Sandal Gold, with glycerin and almond oil. The bar smells a little different, but the scent is the same on the skin.

That's exactly the response I was looking for! It being hot and humid in Central PA right now, I don't have dry skin or the need for extra glycerin in my soap, so I'll probably stick with the Premium/Enriched.

Thanks.

I'm recently loving the Mysore Sandal soaps - Premium (or whatever) and Gold. The Mysore Herbal smells wonderful, but way too drying for my skin.

Check their website for more details on each soap: Mysore Sandal Soap

There isn't an aftershave with the exact scent as far as I know. There's a Mysore Sandal Talc, too (made by the same company) but it's a little feminine and floral IMO.

I've used the Mysore Premium for about a week now and am loving it. The smell fills my bathroom and the lather is really good! We've started to close the bathroom door because my wife doesn't like the unfamiliar (so far) scent wafting into the bedroom, but besides that I'm really enjoying it and will be ordering more from Amazon.

Thanks

I love the Mysore. On the whole it's my favorite soap And I love the way it absolutely fills the bathroom with its aroma after each use, and if the current formulation does that, think about what the previous formulations did. I read somewhere that 30 years ago, the soap had 3 times as much sandalwood oil/powder than it does now (obviously due to endangerment of sandalwood).

It really is a classic aroma once you get used to it. I remember reading a review from an Indian guy a few years ago who said that Mysore Sandal was the only soap his father ever used, and smelling the bar was an evocative experience for him.

Your wife may not like its longterm effects though. As an old-fashioned soap be prepared for some soap scum.

My wife is making me use that stuff that you spray all over the shower after you finish. It's supposed to keep the shower cleab with minimal effort, so hopefully that keeps soap scum to a minimum.

We use the standard Mysore, the one marked in your post with premium, a lot. Great scented soap! The price on Amazon is way to high, I regularly find it in Indian grocery stores here locally for about a buck and a quarter, sometimes even for 99 cents.
