What's new

MyAD has been sated

In my case, it is RAD that has been sated by my devotion to my 37C Slantbar. Has anyone else had rampant ADs halted in their tracks by a particular product?

Yep...EJ DE89 pretty much did it for a while....but the I started picking up some vintage Gillettes mostly for nostalgia...but in terms of looking for "the" razor I've pretty much found it in the EJ.

My RAD has been halted by the 37C as well (except I got the 37 G and the 39 C as well). Love them slants. BUT, my AD is in full force with craeams / AS / oils ect.

I think I'm reaching the saturation and satisfaction point for razors after my recent score of a slantbar (via B/S/T here - thanks Crag!), a gorgeous and great-shaving Aristocrat off eBay and an EJ DE89L that my better half will be putting under the tree for me in a couple of weeks. I've also got a Gem en route, mostly just to say I've tried it (but who knows...), and I'm still sorta/kinda on the lookout for a nice birth quarter razor, but that should just about do it.

I'm also getting to the same point with brushes (tho' I still haven't acquired a silvertip, I've got pure & finest badger, a couple of good and not-so-good boar and now a horsehair) and blades (since I ((probably)) won't live forever). Now if only I can stop with the soaps & creams.

i've gotten 20 or so DE's in the past 2 months. The amount of razors acquired has alone stopped my AD. I have yet to try them all and haven't touched anything new since I fell for my #88 British NEW.

So it sounds like there is some limit to some RAD, but I am not hearing anything from onayone who has found one cream.soap.balm/splash that has caused them to foresake all others. (hord to imagine that). And again, the question isn't have you bought enough items to keep you entertained for the time being, but have you found a product on which you rely that totally satisfies you in some shave-related way.

i think most people here, or at least the addicts like myself will say, no because trying something new is very different than finding something that really works and you would be very happy using it if you chose to not buy anything else. i'd be very happy with any of my AOS stuff if i had to stop buying stuff.

i dont buy to find great products; i buy to try new products. only one of those will stop my rad: no longer wanting to try new products. i think a lot of folks on here feel the same

My RAD has been currently halted by, of all things, the Gem open comb micromatic. A lot of people here fear this razor but I have never had a bad experience with it and get the best shaves of my life. I don't know why I waited so long to try it.

I was buying and trying soaps at a ridiculous pace about a 18 months ago until I tried MWF. Since then, my SSAD has been halted.

I now have only 7 soaps in my "rotation" of which MWF gets about 90% of use.

For me it was my orginal (bought new back in the day) black handled speed, or maybe it was the Rolls traveler in the alagator case, or the Darwin Deluxe, or......never mind.:biggrin1:

My RAD in general has been halted by my GEM 1912 Damaskeene and Schick Type E2 injector. Still, if I can only acquire a British Ever-Ready Streamline after the holidays just so I can say I tried one.

My DE RAD, on the other hand, has ended with my ABC Empire and British NEW.

As far as soaps and creams go, I am content with all things Italian: As in RazorRock cream, Cella and P.160 Tipo Morbido. Yes, there are other Italian soaps and creams I would like to try, but I have no "must have" compulsion to get them at this time.

Now, if I can just find a cologne that is like Italian Floid, but much longer lasting!

Regards,

David
