I looked back in this forum to see if anyone had raised the topic of sardines and couldn't find much, so here it is, the sardine question. Forgive me if this has already been covered.

How do you like these little canned delights? Do you have a particular type or recipe that you like? Or just plain on a cracker for lunch? Or on toast for breakfast? How do you like your sardines?

I like mine in olive oil or tomato sauce on toast with a quick splash of lemon.

We love sardines! The wife will just eat them straight but I can’t do that. I like them on bruschetta with white bean soup.

I like mine with Rye Bread, Demi-Sel butter and a spritz of lemon.

I love sardines. King Oscar boneless and skinless in olive oil are delicious.

My wife likes the king Oscar, Mediterranean, and I like the jalapeño. Sometimes we break them up in the salads and other times we put them in between a slice of cheese. Let’s because we’re on that low-carb diet thing.

Saltines. Better yet, pasta or rice. The hot sauce ones and tomato ones are great on pasta.

I like sardines on crackers for lunch. Sardines on toast for breakfast? Not so much.

King Oscar boneless/skinless in olive oil and Mediterranean style.

I like boneless skinless mackeral as well. Lemon and olive oil especially.

Generally eat them out of the can with celtic sea salt and black pepper.

Love sardines! King Oscar boneless and skinless on crackers with Sriracha is my preferred way. I cannot eat them around my wife or even tell her I had them though.

Currently having breakfast in Tokyo and can eat all the smoked salmon and mackerel I want!

I love them just as they are or in mustard sauce or hot sauce. On crackers or bread, crostini, or whatever.

Season brand wild caught in olive oil are very good. I just add salt right out of the tin.

Sardines on toast is fine with me. Doesn’t matter if they are in oil or tomato sauce I don’t mind either. Reminds me that it has been a while since I had some so when I go to work in the morning I think I will have to make a purchase.

I do not eat seafood but my wife does at every opportunity and these are her favourites. She likes them sautéed, known as ginisang sardinas, with bitter gourd and sticky rice. Any meal we have with rice is known as 'ulam'.

I buy these Portuguese sardines at a local Philippine market . Large sardines , 5 different varieties , great price .

This is my current pantry selection of canned fish not including salmon and tuna. I will usually eat the anchovies on salads or home made pizza. The rest of them on a basic saltine cracker.
