My Rolls Razor observations.

One thing that most of us who use the Rolls have noticed is that while it isn't the most comfortable shave because of the pulling and tugging, it does provide one of the closer shaves you can get. Now I believe the closeness comes from the pulling and tugging because that is actually stretching out the whiskers before it finishes slicing through them. I could be wrong but it just seems to make sense to me.

You are correct that the pulling and tugging are stretching out the whiskers. However that doesn't make the shave closer. It would if you had more then one blade like the multi-blade cartridge razor. The tugging is caused by the blade not being sharp enough to cut through the whisker without extra force. My guess is that you are getting a closer shave because there is no blade gap so you have a very aggressive razor like a straight. The sharper you can get that blade the more the pulling will be reduced. While I use the Rolls from time to time I find the time required to get the blade sharp enough a waste of time and strictly an experiment.
