What's new

My Omega stinks (literally)

I've been using this for years now and I was wondering, is the stink supposed to last this long? (I didn't notice it before, because of the heavy scented TOBS creams, but I can smell wet dog hair when using Williams/Erasmic. Time for a cleaning?

What! Really? You have a boar brush that has been used for years and it still smells of wet dog?

I'm not sure what cleaning agent is going to defunk that brush.

I'd say give it a good shampoo and see if that helps. Make sure it dries out good. Maybe even a vinegear wash and rinse is in order. I never had one funk up while in use though, but maybe someone else can help. Good luck and good shaving!

I got an Omega Professional and have been breaking it in for about two weeks. Initially it stank of mothballs to high heaven, and it still stinks a little. But YEARS? I'm guessing it needs bleach, or colloidal silver, or benzene, or something. Yikes!

Is it a Badger or a Boar? I have never heard of this. Maybe it is not drying completely between uses? Do you have other brushes? Maybe you should get another one and do a rotation.

I have been using my 48 pro daily for 4-5 months now and the bad smell came back after a cleaning with borax :scared:.

Mine smelled bad for about 2-3 weeks I think... shampoo + revitalizing + immersion in the worst aftershave to ever grace planet earth (Clubman Bay Rum urrrgh) made it alright.

May your tongue burst into flames for speaking such heresy. :001_tt2:

Guess I need to Borax it.

I used some Burt's Bees Rosemary and Peppermint body wash on mine, after repeated lathering and washing failed to banish the pig smell. One application of that stuff, and it smells downright civilized.
